diwali 2013 celebration ideas

    hi friends,

    apart from sweets, rangolis what are the other items that can be done or made for Diwali? please share your ideas, this time am planning to celebrate Diwali in a great way.

    my ideas.....

    1. decorating the home with flowers
    2. decorating the lamps
    3. decorating the pooja stand

    any other ideas friends? please share

    Hi Priya,

    Mine are the same dear.
    1. Decorating with thoranam.
    2. Decorating with lamps.

    I usually do a good deep cleaning of the house before deepavali. Let the kids draw / paint deepavali cards and posters and display on their white board and in the living room.

    I usually keep one vase with fresh flowers in the living room (this is almost always there, so not really special for deepavali)


    I put on bright coloured curtains (but again, these are on turn basis, so these curtains are up many times during non-festive season as wel ;-))

    I used to put on bright sofa covers earlier, but with the ones I have now, cannot change.

    I think we can put up serial lights at the enterance and on some window.

    I would love to hear from others what they do for deepavali :)
    Lamps, I do not do any elaborate decorations. I keep simple

    hi akila,

    thx for your ideas, I love the idea of card display made by our kid and also flower vase idea, but I planned to keep a tray with water and decorate with flowers and candles floating on it.

    decorating with d/f candles & diyas
    floating candles with rosé.
    rangoli on main door
    new lights& decoration for my tample
    my all nabours are Chinese so I am gonna invite some of them :)

    Hi Priya and Ishika,

    Floating lamps do sound very creative and lovely. Will see how I can incorporate that into my deco plan :) thanks dearies :)
