Vishnu is known as Ananthasayana. It can have two meanings. First someone reclining on anantha the serpentt and also someone who is on an eternal repose.

So the "Bhadrakali" remark at the end of the thread is right on the target.

    Dear Balajee,

After I finished Abhisekha to the Lord Shiva in the Temple, attended Shiva Bhajans non-stop for 4 hours plus, I returned home to sleep peacefully last night, only to read this post of yours the next morning! Abhacharam!

Seriously, I am a believer in the freedom of speech and you have every right to question the appearance of Lord Shiva. Besides, your intention is to be humorous.

In the process of listing all negative traits that present day unmarried girls will look at about the Lord Shiva, you have missed many positive traits the Lord is described to have naturally.

    1) He consider his spouse as one-half of Himself and which woman in the right frame of mind won't like it?

    2) He is constantly in the meditative state and He teaches Vedas to Ganas. If a woman wants to become spiritual and knowledgeable about the scriptures, He is the man she needs to marry

    3) He has enormous power of destruction and no one with a right frame of mind would meddle with Him or His spouse. What better protection one needs than that?

    4) Anyone who worships Him from the bottom of the heart, can please Him so quickly and He gives whatever boon he/she wants. He is a Lord with great heart which woman won't like Him?

    5) He has consumed the poison that came out of the snake in order to save the world so that others can enjoy Amrit. He sets an example how to serve the world.

    6) Lord Shiva was the first one who brought the fashion of dreadlocks. Nowadays, recent generation girls either like boys with dreadlocks and beard or clean shaven head.

    7) Which woman with a right frame of mind will not like a great dancer? The world goes crazy when King of Pop Michael Jackson makes a moon walk. But the Lord can dance with a real moon in his dreadlocks.

    8) If new generation girls accept men with ripped and unwashed jeans worn slightly below the underwear with a T-shirt that has not seen water for weeks, why won't they accept a handsome, fair-complexion Lord Shiva wearing Tiger skin?

    9) Which spouse will not like to live in a most beautiful natural surrounding on a mountain top overlooking a beautiful lake? She will feel like being on vacation every minute.

    10) Lastly, Lord Shiva has no parents and you have to read at least 2-3 posts in Relationships Forum to understand the benefit of marrying someone like that.

Viswa, frankly, if you had a daughter, would you believe that a groom who smokes pot, drinks bhang, frequents cremation grounds with unsavory characters like demons and ghosts and has his body covered with bhasma and violates animal rights by wearing a tiger skin is the ideal husband for her? True the biggest advantage of Siva is that the wife will have no MIL hassles but there is always the snake problem..

Also which girl would like a DH who is perpetually on a short fuse? Shiva is Rudra remember? And when he is calm and meditative in his Dakshinamoorthy form, he wouldn't give two hoots for a wife. He wouldn't even look at her.

    Dear Balaji,

I wanted to comment something different from what others have posted here, waiting for the right moment and today I got it. This is some ordinary news about an extraordinary husband, visually challenged, who helped his pregnant wife, who got labour pains even before reaching the hospital. Under her instructions he helped her deliver a healthy baby. Here is a living God who stood by his wife in times of crisis, which I am sure even the Real Gods would have thought about twice before getting down to the basics. So who wants a Shiva,Vishnu or Brahma as a husband. I would put such hands on, practical husbands on a pedestal and do Pooja four times! Thanks for such snippets which activates our rusty brains!
