    Layered Hair Style

Layered Hairstyle is one of the most popular hair style and elegance in the fashion world today. It is considered to be a simple addition to a wide spectrum of hairstyles but yet delivers a beautiful, rich, and attractive. Such has lived for centuries style gives volume, bounce, movement, motion, and expression to hair.
    • Layered hair styles can spice up practically any hair length to add unique flair to your look.
    • Add color or highlights to layered cuts makes hair look more beautiful. Depending on individual preferences and highlight colors can be given to the desired layers leaving the rest with its natural appeal. Magical combination is just amazing.
    • To have the appeal of a layered haircut just need to cut hair into different layers depending on the length of hair.
    • Layered haircuts might be just the right solution if you want to add structure and style to your hairdo.
    • Your hair may be cut feathery light, in distinct steps or it may be cut to a short pixie. The slightly longer version may appeal to you as shag starting at ear level.
    • Long or short layered hairstyles may or may not include fringes.
    • There is no end to your hairstyle choices based on layered or stepped cuts.
    • Best of all, layered haircuts don’t look scraggly if you don’t trim your hair often or decide to grow your hair long.
    • Layered haircuts are a low-maintenance style if you keep your hair bouncy, the hair ends intact, and the layers clearly defined.

    Ideal Hair For Layering

    • [*]Coarse hair is best suited for layering followed by medium hair.

[*]Straight and wavy hair can respond the best to layering techniques.

[*]Straight hair, as long as it is not overly fine or thin, can also benefit from carefully placed layers.
    • With wavy hair, properly applied layers will enhance natural wavy textures creating a beautiful cascade of waves in harmony with the overall shape of the hair.
    • Curly hair requires a special type of shaping that is different from traditional layering.
    • Fine hair is the texture least suited for heavily layering. When fine or thin hair is layered improperly it can actually make it look even more wispy and paper thin.

    How Layering is Performed:

    • When strands of hair are held at a 90 degree angle straight away from its natural growth pattern and then cut in a uniform length and manner throughout the entire head, it is considered to be an all-over layered cut.
    • When layers are cut into long hair they are created by holding strands of hair at a slight elevation while establishing the desired hanging length.
    • If strands of hair are held flatly against the head without any elevation this is considered to be a cut with zero layering.
    • When hair is held at a 45 degree elevation and cut the perimeter will be moderately layered. This slight perimeter layering will promote softness, remove excess weight and allow the ends to move with freedom
    • Layering throughout the crown and the top of the head is the most common type of layering due to the fact it removes some of the length in the crown and the frontal areas so the hair will move away from the head.
    • If hair is allowed to remain too long along the crown, the hair will lie flat against the head, which may or may not be a good thing.
    • When crown hair is cut slightly shorter then the rest of the strands, the hair will have less weight and gravity pull and will stand away from the head giving the look of more volume.

    • Sliding haircut : Section hair to 4 parts, start with back section and cut radially at 20 deg angle. Transition over the ear serves as guideline for the front sections. Creates a soft layered ends, but predominantly gives the one-length look. Suitable for medium wavy textures.
    • Graduated Bob : Section hair to 4 parts. Cut radially to 90 deg. Deeper layers than Sliding haircut.
    • Angled bob (or the "Rihanna bob") : Section to 4 parts. Cut to central axis at back at 90 deg angle.
    • Blended Elevation : Here the top section (bob section) is cut 90 deg while the side sections are cut 180 deg to the length of the top section. The occipital and nape sections are cut at 90 deg. In this form of layering there is an "elevated" group of layers formed due to shorter top section and then it blends with the softer side and back layers. Not suitable for wavy or curly hair, but for straight or slightly wavy hair.
    • Reverse Graduation : Make a six section and cut the bob section at 90 deg to required length. All other sections are cut to the bob section at 180 deg. Suitable for both medium wavy and straight hair, but not for very wavy or curly hair.

    Layering Rules - Dos & Don'ts

Some areas of the head benefit more from layering than others. These areas include:

    1. Throughout the crown.
    2. Along the top of the head.
    3. Through the upper part of a forehead fringe or bangs.

There are some areas of the head which do not do as well when layered.

Although there are exceptions to this rule depending on the head of hair being layered, for the most part they include the following areas:

    1. At the nape of the neck extending from ear to ear.
    2. Along the side of the head above ears
    3. Around the hairline next to the face where hair is not heavy enough for consistent layering.
    4. Along the hair part. When layers are added adjacent to the part, a line may form in the style.
    5. Near the very ends where hair is not thick enough to support layering and may cause the hairstyle to lose its shape.

    Proper Care for Layered Haircuts

1.If necessary, use specialty shampoos, rinses, hair treatments or hair end fluids for damaged hair.

2.Using special shampoos and rinses gets you well on the way toward providing the necessary volume and bounce. You may also like to work volumising mousse through your towel-dry hair for problem-free styling.

    3. Cut off the split ends if the damage is extensive.

4.Layered haircuts stand and fall with the defined steps and accentuated hair ends. To achieve this look hair wax is indispensable. The wax will help you define the look without weighing down or gumming up your hair.
As a bonus, the hair wax also intensifies your hair’s shine. Wax also adds volume and is therefore ideal for use with thin hair. Simply rub a small amount of hair wax between your fingers before using them to twirl the ends of individual strands of hair.

5.If your layered hair is straight you should blow-dry it strand by strand with the diffuser attached. While blow-drying your hair, pull a round brush through your hair toward the inside from the roots to the hair ends to create even more of the essential volume and bounce.

You may then decide to briefly pull the round brush toward the outside if you want your long or medium long hair to turn outward.

    Short Layered Hairstyles
There are a lot of great reasons to get a short haircut. Short hair is easier to take care of. Since it’s easier to take care of, it’s easier to keep short hair healthy. Plus short hair is more manageable. It dries more quickly among other benefits. Once you know how to style it, it’s really simple to get great looks from a short layered haircut.

Wearing your hair short and layered will produce volume and body.If you find that your hair is either thin or fine, then layers will be key to making hair look thicker.
