    Reduce cramps

    Hi,

During my monthly periods I get cramps either on the 2nd or 3rd day.

One of my friend adviced taking some pain killers, but I am not in for it.
I don't want to get into the habit of taking pain killers and don't want to get into any medicines that may have even any minor hormonal or genetical side effects.

So, is there anything I can do to reduce it in a natural way?

Warm water, methi seeds, buttermilk - may help!

    Hi Vinu,

Many ladies get menstrual cramps. Drink lots of warm water that will help. Also take methi(fenugreek) seeds with buttermilk - this will help reduce body heat and hence will relieve from cramps and stomach pain.

If you still feel intense cramps, it is better to consult a gynecologist.

    Take care,
    Madhu

    Hi,

Avoiding caffeine may help reduce cramps and headaches.
Staying active during periods will help relieve cramps.
Drink lots of water to feel hydrated and fresh which can also help relieve cramps.

    Reduce cramps...

    Hi,

Adjust your position while sleeping. Keeping one or two pillows under your legs to ease blood circulation would reduce cramps.
Exercises like walking/swimming/yoga promotes good blood circulation. Keeping warm helps with cramping.

Avoid acidic foods like lemon, tomato, or orange juice during menstrual periods.

Herbal Tea helps relax body and muscles!

Drinking caffeine-free herbal tea helps to relax body and muscles from the inside! Ginger tea is especially good for soothing tummy aches and spasms.

Also, as mentioned by Raka, calcium reduces cramyness. Try to take 3 servings of calcium per day, or take a 1,200 milligram calcium capsule daily.

I remember reading somewhere that taking a lot fiber rich food helps reduce cramps and spasms.

Other than greens, some fiber rich vegetables are beans and cauliflower.
You can also take fiber rich fruits like apples, mangoes and banana.
