do you like living in somerset park apartments, We are considering moving there, but reviews online are so bad, scary with rude management, bugs, water flooding in storage and basement. Can you let know how you like your stay in somerset apartments

Very soon I will be moving to Detroit... My hubby's office will be in Southfield..

I will be grateful if you can give any information on the following:

1. How is Detroit as a city? Is it safe to move around alone without the fear of being robbed/ harassed?

2. Have come across a few apartment names with a concentration of Indian families... how good are these apartments... do they have facilities like pool/gym etc.

3. How good/bad is the public transportation system? I mean for someone who does not know driving...can I rely on public transport to commute between places?

4. I am going on L2 visa and would surely want to work there... how good is the job market in Detroit? I am an MA in English and have been working in the field of e learning, ID, editing

5. Do they have good hospitals/ creche/ other facilities like Indian stores around?

Please help me out with these details girls...I am quite nervous about the shifting...

we are travelling to detroit (auburn hills) with a 1 1/2 yr old on feb 14 from chennai. His office is in auburn hills. So for the initial stay we are taking a hotel near by. Pls suggest some places where we can look for an apartment where there are indians nearby. We really have no idea. Pls help

I am not in Detroit, but based in Lansing. I am from Delhi and have been in the US for 2.5 yrs now. I was earlier here as a student and now on H4. Would love to get to know more people around here and make some Indian friends.

Welcome to Detroit.......I live in Farmington.it's a great place to live for Indians.good Indian community is here.here are some apt names mostly Indians live...chathamhills apts
---------------drakeshire apts
---------------Jamestown apts
---------------muirwood apts.(all are very near to southfeild)
---These places are safe and secure.but you should be careful in downtown areas.
---Here public transportation is not bad,but not good also.
---good hospitals are around here.
---very good Indian stores and restaurants are around here..vani foods,namaste,priya....etc
---last but not least cost of living is very low when compared to other states.
