    Hey,

Did any of us expect this? Now Delhi is up to the 2nd place in the points table!! They had another resounding victory last night, this time against the Rajasthan Royals. The Royals were steamrolled by a resurgent Delhi team by 67 runs.

Gautam Gambhir won the toss and chose to bat. Coming to bat, Delhi lost four crucial wickets after scoring 67 runs in 8.3 overs. The vice-captain Dinesh Kartik came to the team’s rescue. He blazed away to 69 off 38 balls. He clobbered six boundaries and four sixers. Gautam Gambhir (43) and Dinesh Kartik added 79 runs off 50 balls and took Delhi’s total to 188-6.

    :clap

Delhi has played the last few matches with a lot of heart and that has reflected in the result!! Yesterday, they recorded their third win on the trot when Rajasthan were down and out for 121 in 17.4 overs.

Delhi's bowling performance was excellent with Amit Mishra (3 for 25) and Pervez Mahroof (2 for 13) chipping in at regular intervals.

Targetting 189 to win, Rajasthan never looked like making it, as they lost Michael Lumb (0) and Faiz Faisal (0) in the first over itself. Rajasthan was further reduced to 31 for 4 by 4.1 overs.

It feels great to see Delhi up at the 2nd place in the table.
    :thumbsup

Hoorray!!! Delhi has jumped over RCB to bag the 2nd spot on the points table!!

Gautam Gambhir won the toss at Feroz Shah Kotla last evening and chose to bat, as expected. Virender Sehwag and David Warner blasted away, treating the Bangalore bowlers ruthlessly. RCB struck in the 5th over when Abhimanyu Mithun went through the defense of Viru. Paul Collingwood played a responsible and crafty innings as he made 75 not out. He smashed seven hits over the boundary as he dominated most of the RCB bowlers with utmost ease.

Were any of you in the stadium last night?
    :thumbsup

    Dear Madhuja,

I was lucky enough to be at the Kotla last evening. Delhi Daredevils put up a total of 184-5 at the end of the 20 overs.

When RCB came to bat, they bowled tightly to restrict the awed batting attack of RCB. The Bangalore batsmen huffed and puffed but could not quite put up the batting performance that was expected of them. They were behind the required run rate from the beginning of the chase. Some huge blows from Ross Taylor injected some hope into the RCB supporters. Once Rajat Bhatia took Taylor’s wicket and Sangwan took Kallis’s (54), RCB’s chase was over.
    :cheers

The Daredevils skipper, Gautam Gambhir, lost the toss for the 1st time in IPL 3, at Eden Gardens on Wednesday evening. Delhi was put to bowl by the Kolkata skipper Saurav Ganguly.
The Delhi bowlers failed to stop the Kolkata openers from having a good, consistent start. Sourav scored a 46-ball 56 and added 94 for the opening partnership with Chris Gayle, who scored 40 off 21 balls. Delhi brought down the scoring when they took 3 wickets in succession. But Angelo Mathews and Manoj Tiwary played some splendid shots towards the end and Kolkata got the total of 181-3.

Delhi could make 166-8 in the stipulated 20 overs and lost the match by 15 runs.

    Friends,

Delhi Daredevils are going through a difficult phase. They have again lost last evening. And this time to Kings XI Punjab!

Feroz Shah Kotla was sizzling yesterday, as it was a very hot day in Delhi. But Kings XI Punjab seemed the hottest of all. This was the 44th match of IPL3 and Delhi lost by seven wickets.
Delhi is suffering because of poor running between the wickets. Yesterday, they had three run outs in a row. It was terrible!! They had had 2 run outs in the KKR match as well!!

This IPL is getting very interesting, friends. There is constant traffic going up and down the points table.

It was yet another defeat for the Delhi Daredevils, last evening. It was Match 47 of the IPL 3 and it was played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Sachin’s Mumbai Indians raced away to 183/4, scoring 50 runs in the last three overs. Kieron Pollard played a blistering knock as the Delhi bowlers failed to contain him. Ashis Nehra and Sarabjit Ladda were each hit by him for a six. But he reserved his best for the last over in which he scored 20 runs off Andrew McDonald.

Delhi lost as they could score only 144 -7 in 20 overs. They are still stuck with 12 points. They are at the 3rd place due to good run rate.

Delhi Daredevils had a victory last evening!! They defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets.
It was the 50th match of IPL3. It was a very important match for both Delhi and Chennai.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Chennai Skipper, won the toss and elected to bat. The choice did not prove right as CSK was in deep trouble at the end of the 3rd over with 18-2.
Badrinath and Bollinger took Chennai past 100 and finally they scored a total of 112.

Chasing 113 to win, Delhi also had a poor start. But a matured performance from Gautam Gambhir and Mithun Manhas saw Delhi through.
    :)

    Friends,

Delhi Daredevils are out of IPL 2010!! They lost to the Deccan Chargers yesterday and ended their IPL3 journey. It seems like yesterday that I started the thread with so much excitement and optimism!! But alas it is all over for this year.

Delhi’s failure, this year, can be credited to their lack of consistency. I think they lacked the killer instinct. They were having one convincing victory followed by one dismal loss. Having followed IPL 3 closely, I found lot of similarities between Delhi’s and Kolkata’s performance graph.

Yesterday, Delhi not only had its own supporters cheering for the team, but they also had the support of the whole of West Bengal. KKR needed Delhi to win and Deccan to lose to keep open a slim chance of qualifying to the semis.

    :-(
