I planning to get some toiletries from ebay. The shipping to location would be Hyderabad and shipping from would be either USA or China. What are the various import taxes levied on it, something like custom tax et al? Does anyone have any idea about it?
There is no duty on personal goods. But if you are buying electronic items then you will have to pay custom duty.

I have shopped online but from Indian company's never ordered from abroad. Staying in India and ordered from abroad online company's then you will have to pay shipping charges.
I buy from websites frequently. There is no customs duty on small orders such as $10-$30 USD. But it also depends on the size and weight of the stuff. I haven't ordered anything big yet. Someone told me that if you request the seller to mark it as 'gift' on the customs form, customs duty can be saved for many imported goods. But I never did that thinking it will sound very odd and cheating to seller. Hope this info helps!
