Curious About Kids

You can pretend to understand it n reply in a funny way. Talk to them. Make them feel heard. Give them the feeling to come to you for anything. Assure them that you believe them. Communication is very important. But again, we aren't machines but jus humans, so it's ok to let them know when you are tired as well, not possible to talk 24/7, they can, but we would want to bang our heads. So balance it out.

My kid does this too. I simply ask him, "did you listen to me the first time I told you?"
He says "no".
Then I say "till the time you do I have no choice but to yell as you are not listening to me. N this can be stopped anytime you are ready. So It's upto you."
He says "ok I will listen"
But half the time it's the same thing.. lol

That's natural with any two or more children. Even for adults, it's hard to accept when we are treated differently from others, from siblings, to school to college to work, marriage, anywhere. I try to teach my kid more of a "don't care" or "it's ok" attitude in this subject. It's still in the "work in progress" stages.

 

@MonikaSG , Very good write up. I'm not yet a mother but I also think this way.
We have to realise they have many options, but we have to be their best option, so they can be honest with us and not get into trouble.

 

Yes that is.. but my son was talking departed relatives ..
