    Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society ( SIFAS), in conjunction with its 60th year celebrations has organised the concert of Prince Rama Varma at SIFAS Auditorium on 20 June, 7:30 pm. Admission is free. Anyone interested in Carnatic Classical music can make use of this opportunity to catch this sublime artist Live in Singapore. A descendant of Maharaja Swathi thirunal, the only composer to have composed both in Carnatic and Hindustani music and a foremost disciple of Dr.M.     Where do u celebrate deewali and how ?

    Dear Singpore IL,
    Where do u celebate deewali and how do u do ? Bc crackers that are available here are not like at india and only sparkle rods are mostly available. Do we have any spl place do fire the crackers and is any other cracker available other than kambi mathaappu ( sparkle rod with whistle ) . Dont be there any sparkle pot ( boosvanam ) , chakra, gun with roll cape etc.,. And how much it costs ,where it is avaialble cheap ? Pls come with your suggestions .

    Swar Sangam – A Musical Confluence

    They are both considered doyens of Indian classical music, vocal giants who started out as child prodigies and have since received a multitude of honours, awards, performance invitations and acclaim from critics, peers and music lovers alike. They are South Indian carnatic vocalist Dr M Balamuralikrishna and North Indian hindustani vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, and the two will take centrestage together for their first jugalbandhi concert in Singapore for Kalaa Utsavam 2009.

    Dr M Balamuralikrishna will be accompanied by accomplished musicians Kotandapani Sivaraman (violin) and T R Sundaresan (mridangam) while Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty will be accompanied by the equally skilled Samar Saha (table) and Brajeswar Mukherjee (harmonium).

    Sitarasa by Samuel Dass on 22 Nov at Esplanade

    most celebrated sitarist Malaysia has produced”, Samuel Dass has spent most of his life working to master the sitar, create new music in the hindustani genre and beyond, and bring sitar music to a wider audience.


    Sitarasa will thrill both classical purists and music lovers. The concert will showcase established classical works from the Hindustani system of Shastria Sangeet, and more interactive pieces composed by Samuel himself.
