    Some time back there were some very nice patterns for sofa as well as table runners in needle and thread

    Most of the patterns i have seen on websites use the squares/rounds and join them into covers or table cloths.

    Other idea is get a design of your own. then do the edgings in lace/crochet with coats dmc.
    (worth the strain and effort)

    But i think i have saved few vintage table/sofa cover designs let me see if i have the links will surely post it or will just upload the file.
