A long time back the Hindu published a recipe for roach reellent attributed to the director of Guindy snake park.
1 part borax, 2 parts sugar, 4 parts wheat flour and a little cream. Mix all together to make a dough, make small balls, allow to dry. Keep these balls in known locations of infestation. Over a few days the cockroaches disappear. Apparently the borax interferes with the nervous system/circulation of these pests and they just fade away.
I have used it. Did work.
If there are small children or pets, they may consume these pellets. Care is needed, even though borax is not very toxic to humans.
