    Re: Cleaning brass pooja items

Try lemon concentrate. you can fill a bucket full of water with 2 small bottles of lemon concentrate & soak all the brass items on it for couple of hours and rinse it in cool water & dry it. No need of scrubbing at all.
    It shines like new.

    Hi Heena,

As far as i know tamarind is the best solution for cleaning brass and copper articles. Take little bit of tamarind wet it and rub it to the article until you get the required glow and rinse it with water. you will definitely find the difference. For cleaning copper articles add some salt to tamarind and try. For instant glow for copper items take one lemon peace and dip it in salt
and apply to the copper items. It works like a magic.

After rinsing wipe the articles with dry cloth. Hope it will help you.ctoo

For silver pooja articles i use white tooth powder. it works well for me.

    Komala.

    Hi Mohana,

As far as i know tamarind is the best solution for cleaning any brass item. Take a bit of tamarind, wet it, then rub it to the brass article until you get required glow. For best results apply the soaked tamaring paste to the article, leave it for 10 min. and then clean it. Finally rinse with water.

For cleaning copper articles add some salt to tamarind and clean it. For instand glow take a piece of lemon and dip it in the salt and apply to the copper itemsand them rinse it in water. You will find instant glow. Don't forget to wipe the articles after rinsing with water. It will help you long lasting glow. Hope you will find it helpful.

    hi shanthi krishna,

i am a fan of you recipes.. they are awesome with wonderful pics
i am trying to follow ur method for cleaning silver articles
    and it came out well

one another technique which my mom taught was to apply tooth paste with unused tooth brush, leave it for few minuts and then clean with the dishwashing liquid.. it comes out pretty well

also, i apply vibhoothi after cleaning and wipe with tissue paper

hello, i am new to indus ladies and have been reading ur thread of cleaning silver and brass items-well i have an old way which i do at my home,I boil water and add soda bicarb, some tamarind(lemon sized) and some washing detergent in it (1 tsp each)and immerse especially the brass items and bring to a boil.then remove and lightly scrub-even the worst oil stains will disappear and ur items will shine as new. for the silver items u can boil the water with all the ingredients and remove from fire and soak the silver in it for 2 to 3 mins and then scrub lightly with old tooth brush for the same results.
