"Don't worry Saran! You will be alright! Now, can you please smile?", beamed Raghavan to the pale looking Saranya, focussing her on his mobile camera. She was just admitted to that hospital after complaining about an acute pain in the stomach. They had been together, for too long. Forty five years to be exact, but their relationship still had that softer hue to it. They had no children and adopted two, who themselves were married and settled abroad. All tests were taken and the result made Raghavan sad. There was a tumour growth which had to be verified whether it was malignant or not. The doctor somehow feared the worst, from his part experience and how the patient felt. Raghavan told Saranya about the issue. She was so unaware of all medical jargons that she just said, "Oh! Its the one that is causing all the problem? They will be giving medicines to clear it. Isn't it? When can we go home, dear?". "Very soon, dear! Tomorrow, they will just be testing it. It might hurt a bit ma! But you will be alright!", he said. The results came. Raghavan made arrangements for the discharge and received her case history and the follow up instructions along with a medicine box. But his smile was lost. While wheeling her in the chair to the vehicle, she looked at him and said, "Don't worry dear! You will manage!"
He cheered her when they didnt know, and she cheered him when they knew she might not survive. Sad... but their love is very sweet... how they understand each other even without saying things out loud, how they cheer up each other.... beautiful!! i love the way you have subtlely put it... she may not understand the medical jargon but she knew instinctly on looking at his face. Good one rgs. Akila
Believe me Sir! We are too far from "And they lived happily thereafter" days now. So, we need to take it as it arrives. Thanks for your feedback. Very happy to receive from you. -rgs
