I am very shy, sensitive person.I have always been this way.I never wanted to have kids because I can never ever bear to see my loved ones hurt in any way and who better we love the most than our own kids???

My hubby was adamant to have kids and I finally gave in.I am going through immense stress as I fear if i have to socialize a lot,if someone will be rude to my kids, etc.I personally cannot even stand up for myself.Usually,if someone is rude i just avoid them as much as possible as i get hurt easily.

everyday when i look at my kids,i feel if i will ever be able to protect them?
why do i feel all the above?my childhood was not that great.i was also bullied in school, college etc.please help me?

Dont worry. I think you should explore outside world also. There are lots of competitors in outside world so please try to explore. Talk to the people and try to spend more time with them....

To shy parents more than changing diapers and sleepless nights its these thoughts that worry most.I think your past has played an important role in making you the shy person that you are.

Survival of the fittest is the best suited theory here. When your child realises that his/her parents wont be able to protect him/her,the child learns to protect himslef.Trust me.
As parents We can never see our child suffering and its then that our parental instincts take over us.No matter how shy you are,you will protect your child...that comes to parents naturally. Its more like a reflex.
My mother has always been very shy/modest/humble, and has been a wonderful mother to my brother and me.I really don't think that you being shy would have any negative effects on your parenting skills. I certainly think being shy is better than being loud and overbearing.
My hubby is shy but i think hes a great parent much better than me,shows lots of patience in handling my naughty son.
So cheer up aruna...you too will be a great mom

    Aruna,
you were a shy child & were bullied /teased in school but your child may have different personality.he/she may not even need you to fight his/her battles but may learn to stand up against anything.

otherwise many people or other parents don't try to find ways to hurt innocent kids by words or action .most people are decent & loving.very few are rude & the best way is to ignore them & believe me once a child has met such person they themself learn to avoid such people .
