Please suggest delicious cabbage recipes, either in soup or curry type. I would like to eat more of cabbage but taste is not appealing to me
I make cabbage with potato. A very simple preparation. In a wok (karahi) put little oil, add cumin + chopped green chilli and hing. Mix for 2-3 seconds. Now add chopped cabbage and potato and sauté for 5-8 minutes or till raw smell of cabbage is gone. Now add little haldi powder, salt and little chopped tomato, mix well and cover with a lid. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes. Cabbage Subzi is ready to relish with plain white rice, chapati or puri.
Pressure cook cabbage for 2 whistles and keep aside. In a mixie grind the following - grated coconut, dalia (roasted chana dal or pottukadalai in tamil), cumin seeds, 2 red chillies, salt and hing (asafoetida) Take a pan and saute with oil and mustard seeds, then add the grounded paste and fry for 2 minutes. Then add cabbage cooked and mix well, cook for 3 minutes. This is delicious cabbage curry suits well with plain rice and ghee. And also a side dish for yogurt rice. One of my favorite cabbage receipes.
Also baked cabbage comes nice. Cut few chunks of cabbage, color capsicums, zucchini - add salt, freshly crushed black pepper and little olive oil. Put in an oven-proof dish, cover with foil and bake at 250C for 20-25 minutes. If you don't mind mushy tomato, you can add some tomato to it or any sauce of your liking.
I make cabbage pancakes Mix finely chopped cabbage, chilies, ginger, sesame seedsl, bessan (1-2tsp) and salt. Add well beaten eggs to it and cook them on tawa like omelette or pancake, i usually cover and cook on low flame. It tastes good with fresh salsa.
Cabage in soups. Cabbage parathas. Cabbage paruppu usili. Cabbage rolls a little tedious( you make them like arbi leaves. Cabbage chickpeas black olives makes a nice salad with a simple dressing or yoghurt dressing. Cabbage mor kootu, cabbage poriccha kootu regular kootu. Cabbage dry fry with potatoes/ chick peas. Cabbage in adai and dosa too. Cabbage pakoras too. Cabbage replaces onions
Grind coconut with green chillies and coriander leaves into a paste.Pour some oil in a pan add hing and cumin seeds and turmeric powder then add cut cabbage.After it is fried well add the above paste and salt.This curry tastes yummy with rice as well as chappatis.
