BROKEN WHEAT UPMA Ingredients ½ cup broken wheat (bulgur wheat) ½ cup onions, chopped 1 green chilli, chopped ½ teaspoon grated ginger ¼ cup green peas ¼ cup carrots, diced ¼ teaspoon mustard seeds (rai) 2 teaspoons oil salt to taste For the garnish 2 tablespoons chopped coriander Method 1. Clean and wash the broken wheat thoroughly. Drain and keep aside. 2. Heat the oil in a pressure cooker. Add the mustard seeds. 3. When they cackle, add the onions, green chilli and ginger and sauté till the onions turn translucent. 4. Add the green peas, carrots, broken wheat and salt and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes. 5. Add 1½ cups of water and pressure cook for 1 whistle. 6. Garnish with the coriander and serve hot.
