Boomerang .

There was a Voluntary Service Group in the city . People from various walks of life were members in it.
Every Saturday they will meet in their office , plan their action to help the needy people of a particular area and execute them the very next day , Sunday.
Once , they learned that in a nearby village there were many drunkards , including women .
Hence they planned to visit the village and educate the villagers . They informed the villagers about their visit .
On Sunday evening by about three O'clock , they started their meeting .
Contrary to their expectations , most of the villagers participated in the meeting ,
including women .
The first speaker elaborated the evils of drinking ,in general.
The second one spoke about how drinking affected the education of their children , who would , otherwise, be the gem of a citizen of our country .
The third one spoke about sliding down of agricultural output due to consumption of liquor by the farmers.
The fourth and final speaker Mr.Ram Mohan explained how drinking affected their health .
He made a demonstration :
He kept a clean white glass jar on the table ; slipped a few earthworms into it.
He then exhibited the live worms to them all.
He then poured some alcohol into the jar , sufficient to immerse the worms.
In five to ten minutes all the worms died .
Now he took the jar and exhibited it to them all , confirming that the worms had died.
He then left a gap of five to ten minutes .
The villagers talked among themselves and repeatedly the word ,"died". ,. "died" , came from their mouth .
After deep consultation and
consideration they seemed to have come to a conclusion , thus their faces showed a clear decision .
Ram Mohan was very very happy that the meeting had the desired result.
He asked the villagers ," Have you seen what happened to the worms ? That is why we people are not taking liquor. Now all of you should take a pledge to renounce drinking liquor from today itself . Will you all do it ?"
The villagers , both the drunkards and others , unanimously told :
" We will regularly take liquor from today.
You people also start to drink ".
Ram Mohan and his group members were shocked to hear this .
Ram Mohan asked them why they were telling like that .
The villagers replied :
". Only by taking liquor the worms in our stomach will die ."
