When I was a kid whenever my mom used to prepare Bombay chutney I always used to wonder if they serve this type of chutney in Mumbai ;)o_O:confundio1:
I used to always ask her why is it named so !! Lol I also wonder who named items as Idly , Dosa as such !!! Why do we call Idly as Idly why not Chapati !! :yum::p:roflmao:. Who is tat master mind who named food items !!!
    Me and my innocence !!!
Innocence days of childhood !! Really nostalgic ! I so want to go back to those days sometimes !
Used to worry only about playing , studies ,and ya
You got it right Exaaaammmsss !!!

Used to worry if I was able to complete
    Homework on time !
Used to worry if I will get good marks than my friends !
Used to worry if I get to play during Exams!
Used to worry if my parents buy whatever I asked for !
Used to worry if I get good dresses and so on !!!

Well these innocent worries are nothing when compared to worries we face on later stages !!!
Childhood days are the most precious and cherished days!!
Most of us are privileged for having good or decent childhood !

There are many kids who struggle a lot during childhood itself ! Which makes them stronger deep inside !

But after we grow up do you think worries end up !!! Obviously worries never end !!!
It’s up to us whether to keep on worrying about things which aren’t under control or stop worrying !

Gone are the days were pencils , crayons , erasers mattered us the most !

They say the best thing is to “Live in the Moment” .
Which sometimes is really difficult to follow !
Now let me come to the recipe for Bombay chutney !

    Ingredients

    Boiled Potatoes - 2 big
    Tomato - 1
    Onion -1 medium
    Besan - 2-3 tbsp
    Curd - 1/2 cup
    Water
    Mustard
    Curry leaves
    Green chillies
    Lemon juice

    Method

Mix the Besan and curd until there are no lumps!

Take a pan add little oil ,mustard , curry leaves , onions and fry nicely .
Add chillies , tomatoes and potatoes and mix well.
Now add the Besan mixture and mix well . It will start to thicken adjust with required amount of water . Shouldn’t be too thick or watery !
Now add salt , lemon juice and garnish with coriander.

    Note
You can add carrots, beans ,capsicum as well .
It tastes best with puri , chapati and dosa .

@shravs3, when I mention bombay chutney people look at me like I have lost it now a days. I often wondered if I was the only one who grew up with this name! Thank god you posted a recipe....I feel validated . My version is slightly different....

onions, chillies and curry leaves....saute with seasoning
two spoonfull of besan in water with turmeric
Add to seasoning (water needs to be adjusted so that besan won't burn)
cover and cook in very low flame.

Thank you for sharing your recipe and enjoyed reading about your childhood memories...will try it soon.

Thanks Gouri . Yes many people from south don’t know this ! But wonder how did they name it.

Hi @radv thanks . Ya you are right now I’m remembering it. Only difference is with some more spices added to the Gujarati kadhi .
