Best way to make jewelry from gold coins: please advise me!

Ladies, I have 2 gold coins. One is 25 grams, 24 ct gold coin bought in India (from ICICI bank).
The second is, American Eagle 22 ct (25 grams) gold coin, bought in, yes, US.

We are expecting our second baby now and I want to make a gold chain and gold anklets for the baby (as is our tradition). Which is the best way to go about it?

1. Do they melt it together and make 2 ornaments?

2. Is it better to send it to india and get it done?

3. Is it better to sell it and use the money to buy what ever we need?

IMHO there are not many gold-smiths in US/CA. So am assuming, the making charges would be very high if you choose option 1.

Option 2 is best if you find a reliable & careful friend who wont lose the coin or ornament. While this may be better, there is a risk of putting your friend in a spot, if anything were to happen to the coin/ornament enroute. Also you do not get to pick the ornament of your choice.

If I were you, I would choose Option 3, as the risk involved is nill.

@Rakhii i have bought coins, given it to my regular jeweller and got jewels made without much charges, 5-8 years back. now there is not much of a gain.

But with too many restrictions you need to look into the viability of taking it to india.

The third option looks good. sell it and get the jewels bought either here or india

Thanks ladies, I will take your advise and just sell them and buy the jewelry using that money. Its anyway easier I guess. Have to check the Gold prices.
