Drinking Barley water also beats the heat. It is very good for summer.

Boil a handful of barley seeds in 2 litres of water after cleaning it.
Remove it from stove when barley becomes red or seeds swell up as it bolied in water.
Stain the barley water, cool it and store it in the fridge. You can drink this instead of water.
If you cannot handle taste of barley add lemon /buttermilk with pinch of salt. It tastes great and best coolent for summer.
We survive Muscat summers this way.

    thank you work4mhome, superlily, archana506

Thank you utopianchick for sharing the tips. the drink sounds interesting.

Thanks Saras123, but I have heard that barley increase body heat hence should not be used more than 3 times in a week (that is how it increase urination and helps in weightloss too). does it increase body heat for you? Having with buttermilk is a good tip. May be that balance the effect?

Thanks ishika for the summer tips :)

    Hi mimur

Barley works well for us. I have not seen any increase in body heat or any weight loss/gains.
We have been taking it from many years even in Indian summers. My granny used to give it to us using thin buttermilk (only in summers) and sometimes with lemon(only few times as she used to say limbus are expensive in summer:hide:)
    Atleast you don't get dehydrated.
