U Pick Farms in the Bay area

    Hi Everyone,

Now is the time to go berry picking , fruit or veggie picking . Brentwood( North of SFO near Antioch, Dublin) has a whole bunch of Farms that allow u to have fun picking your own fruits and veggies. We are planning to go this weekend. All farms are probably about 1 and 1/2 hours from Sanjose. I think same from Sacramento too. Here is a website that gives you more details.

Have fun people. Since the long weekend is coming up, this is something to keep in mind.

    Independence Day fireworks

    Dear All

This Independence Day our friends took us to San Jose Downtown for the fireworks. We are new to US and this is the first time we witnessed fireworks. It was really awsome. People arrived there pretty early and were squatting on the streets, some on chairs and some spread bedspreads, and ice cream walas making big business and people cheering.....it was fun....i was reminded of our aruvathimoovar festival at mylapore kabaleeshwarar temple.......

i usually get all my inputs from IL bay area gals...how come you missed it......are there any other days when there will be fireworks.....how did you gals spend your day? do fill in.....

    cheers

    I agree...

Yes Hope, the firework display here is something to be seen to believe. Every time I watch it, it never fails to thrill me. There are two huge firework displays all over America in a year. One was July 4th and the next is New Year's Eve. Enjoy!

(It's another thing when I muse about the money burnt with it, but then..)

    fireworks in Sacramento

We also went for a fireworks display here in Cal Expo ,Sacramento.WE had some relatives over at our place and we actually took a last minute decision to go to the display. For us also, this was the first time.

In Sacramento, this July 4th's display was considered unique..why?
    1. Planet Jupiter was visible close to the moon.
    2. The international space station made a guest appearance for us. At around 9.40 pm,an unblinking light appeared in the north west part of the sky, then it travelled in an arc towards the south and disappeared in 5 minutes.Actually,I was more interested in watching the space station than the fireworks.

It was truly an unforgettable experience.

    Good idea Hopefloats!

Sunita, looks like it was a lot of fun at Sacramento this July...seems like I surely missed the fireworks! We really wanted to go to Shoreline Blvd or Pier 39 at SFO to watch the fireworks, but we couldn't... The only fireworks I enjoyed in this country was last new years at Vegas, it was a beautiful n breathtaking experience to celebrate the arrival of 2006 there!

This july weekend, we did the day-long river rafting tour at Southfork river near Tahoe and were totally exhausted after the whole day's adventure...! Gals, this was the first time i was rafting, so it was exhilarating! I was kinda apprehensive before getting to the site but once we reached there, I was really enthu and it turned out to be an awesome adventurous experience! We went for Class III-IV rapids, so it was exciting yet safe.

Hopefloats, Santa Cruz boardwalk is indeed a lot of fun...the last time we went, I only went on a couple of rides, next time I wanna buy an unltd day pass and enjoy all the rides(though I must say they aren't very exciting or thrilling to my standards!! - I love the New York New York roller-coaster and Stratosphere Free Fall at Vegas type of rides much more!) We went kayaking at the beach, and it sure was a lot of good exercise and fun! The best part abt Santa Cruz is the 'mela-like' experience you get there!!!

Could anyone share the experience at Great America Parkway? I've been pestering dh to take me there, he promised to take me last summer but by the time he got ready it was winter and they closed it for the season:(
