Bank Officers jobs in India

    Hi All,

    I have no knowledge except for hearing from an ex-colleague about this.

    I am an IT porfessional planning on returning to India next year. I cant imagine working for any IT company as I dont think I can work late or the way I used to considering I will have a school going son when I return back. My ex-colleage happened to resign from her IT job n made it into one of the nationalized banks and seems v.happy with the work life balance.
    Can somebody explain how to apply for these jobs, when wl the application process start and how to prepare for these exams. Do they have an age limit for these jobs like the usual BSRB age limits?
    Collecting this info so that we can plan keeping this timeframe also in mind.

    I am not sure of the process now. But what I heard from my friends' is that earlier you used to apply to each bank - separate application and attend their written exam. But now, there is a common written exam for a list of banks that is conducted twice a year. You need to register online and you have to write that exam (looks like it is online based now)and if you pass, you'll receive your score with which you can attend interviews for those listed banks based on the openings. Even now SBI conducts separate written exam for PO post. Go through this official website Apply online for IBPS exam 2013 and other websites

    Thanks Soumya for the response. Unfortunately the age limit is 20-28 yrs and I wl be over 28 when we go back :(

    SBI PO says 21-30 years. This applies only for General category and they have relaxation in age limit for other categories. I am not sure of the Specialist Officers Exam age limit.

    Reservations applicable for obc,sc,st, ebc etc...... Age relaxation

    I am also from IT and looking for bank job
    As far as I have googled, I found there is specialist IT officer post in banks and the age limit is up to 35 for scale 1 and 40 for scale 2.
    So we still have a chance.

    I wl be 30 this september and also from OC :(
    Here in the US we are not allowed into certain jobs bcoz we are not GC holders n back in India we r not allowed bcoz we hv crossed the age limit and belong to forward community...whr on earth do they want us to survive then?

    I think the age limit for Specialist Officer Scale2 is 35 years. As you are having experience, you can go for scale2 IT Officer. I've heard about SBI Associate Specialist officer recruitment. Let's see.
