Today I'm posting a simple recipe which can be prepared in a jiffy. For those of us who are interested in trying out new recipes this will be a new idea to relish bananas. This can also be served as dessert to your guests. Any variety of bananas can be used to make this dish. I prepared with the Red Variety and it tasted great.

    Ingredients:

    Ripe Bananas - 4
    Sugar - 1/2 cup
    Ghee - 2 tbsp
Cashew, almonds - 2 tbsp (chopped)
    Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
Yellow food color - a pinch (optional)

    Method:

Roughly chop or coarsely grate the bananas. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a thick bottom pan and fry the nuts. Keep them aside. Now in the same ghee, put the banana pulp and saute well till golden brown in color. Now add the sugar and saute well. The mixture will become a little watery but keep stirring and eventually the mixture will thicken. Now add the cardamom powder and the food color and saute well. Add the other tbsp of ghee also and add the fried nuts. The mixture will become more thick and will have a glossy look. This is the right consistency to switch off the heat. Keep stirring for a few seconds more. Now Banana Halwa is ready. Serve it hot or warm.

    Serving Suggestion:
Serve hot Banana Halwa over a dollop of Vanilla Ice - cream and your kids will keep wanting more. Happy Eating!!!

This is the first time I'm hearing of banana halwa. Sounds very interesting and unique. Just one question Dhivya. You said that we have to fry the nuts and keep them aside. When do we add the nuts to the halwa? Is it during the time when we add the 2nd tbs of ghee?
