Amazed was I to see that ball
Of light in that darkened room.
Along a scale did it jump and fall,
    Driving away my inner gloom.

    "What experiment is this?",
I asked and got a response which
Sounded like a small musical piece.
    "Ballistic Galvanometer", sounded rich.

Fast forward, to where I am now.
I've been searching that ball of light
That eludes me since, I know not how.
It seeks only those who are bright.

Be it a glimpse of fame or just
    Riches that keep one satisfied.
A dollop of love that feels best
From any, at best was a white lie.

"Why should I be looking for
    Acceptance from others?", I felt.
    Suddenly, in that gloomy night
Something flashed. I felt so light.

    Good one!
I don't think we get acceptance from others for everything done by us. Frankly we don't need that acceptance from others. I prefer to do what makes me happy and gives peace of mind as long as which isn't harmful to anyone.

Thanks @Mistt for your feedback. It takes a lot more time to understand and accept this. Then we get in to another trap - "I don't like to dothis, but for my dear one, I have to!". -rgs

True, we can't escape from that emotional trap. I adjust myself and do somethings for my loved ones. May be that adjustment/sacrifice also gives happiness.

    @Mistt,
That was a nice one. But I always try to stress myself that I do this, surely not to feel compromised later. Many of us tend to use the word "sacrifice" quite easily. True that considering others above self most of the times is a form of sacrifice, but the real word points to that, you don't expect anything out of what you did selflessly. Whether you are recognized or not, whether what you did is understood and received well or not.
The nature of all living beings is to be happy, at times oblivious of what would happen next. We tried to change that and hence moved away from that. -rgs

We can achieve above feeling in unconditional love only.
