    Hi friends,
Here is an easy method of taking terracotta clay at home.
You can bake using pressure cooker.
First remove the gasket and weight of the pressure cooker. Then put a layer of sand in the pressure cooker. Heat it for 5 minutes in a high flame. Now on the top of that put all your clay jewelleryjewellery. Cover the jewellery with another layer of sand. Now heat the cooker with medium to high flame for at least half an hour. Your jewellery is ready to paint now.

Please Note: Use old pressure cooker for this as thebottom gets charred and becomes black.
If you cannot get sand, you can use powdered salt for the same.
Please see to that before baking the jewellery, they should be dried completely, otherwise while baking they break into pieces

The second method is using sawdust. First make sure that the jewellery is air dried completely. To make it double sure first you can preheat the jewellery on an iron pan or tawa. Next in a terracotta vessel or pot put either some charcoal or few pieces of coconut shell. Light it up using paper or camphor. When it is burning put some amount of saw dust on the top of that. When the saw dust burns put your jewellery on the top and put some more sawdust on the top of that. Blow the flame. Make sure the heat remains till all your jewellery is baked completely. If required keep adding some saw dust in the middle and blow the flame.

Please note: Make sure that you are trying this method in an open place away from gas cylinder and kids.

    Hope this information helps...

Thank you so much for so much detailed information.

I am planning to try the pressure cooker baking method.

In another post you mentioned that keeping the jewellery in closed/sealed container in the cooker(just the lidwith gasket but without whistle) also is one method.

Please suggest which methods is better one with sealed container or one with sand or salt in the cooker.

Also after using the cooker for baking is it advisable to use that cooker for general cooking.I am asking because i heard somewhere baking clay may release some fumes hence it should avoided to be baked in oven or any container which is going to be used for cooking food.

Will be happy to hear from you.Thank you in advance for your help.
