One more from Fountain Head that has remained etched in mind:-

"Look, Gail" Roark got up, reached out, tore a thick branch off a tree, held it in both hands, one fist closed at each end; then, his wrists and knuckles tensed against the resistance, he bent the branch slowly into an arc. "Now, I can make what I want of it: a bow, a spear, a cane, a railing. That's the meaning of life"

    "Your strength?"

"Your work." He tossed the branch aside.. The material the earth offers you and what you make of it ....."

Simple but eloquent.. My intro with her though was Fountain Head.. I read Atlas Shrugged and then read We, the living... Unfortunately her other books were either too forceful or focusing on the negatives of non-individuality..

It was a co incidence that I got to read her works chronologically, without actually setting out to do so .I t kind of helped me follow her evolution as a crusader for individuality, if I may call it that. I had read her decades ago and had actually penned down some of my fav. lines-your post got me looking for those jottings frantically. Yet to find them amidst all my papers. Will surely look up and share in this thread. Sharing a good read is as interesting as a good read itself.

I have read fountainhead 8 years back and it had impacted my way of thinking of my life. Many years I thought only success defines of our life, but that book made me to think, success or failure should be determine by our heart, not in other people's appreciation..

One of my favourite authors. I love Atlas Shrugged. Though Fountain head is good to read, I felt like the characters are unusually unrealistic. Especially Roark.

    Hi

Thanks for participation. True.. I read it in the first year of my college. Changed my perspective so much so that the word Ego was given a different ideology in my dictionary :)

Good to know you are in your family way.. Read it again now.. :)

    Hi Rakhii

Thanks for sharing your ideas. Utopianism has its own charm :) . I see shades of Roark in creative excellence existing amidst us and is agreed to and respected

When I was in college, when the world was a bed of roses to dream, I did think the world was not as bad a second hander as narrated. However, When I started working, the so called team work leading to Success-to-the-team and failure-attributed-to-the- individual usually a scape goat mentality made me re-read the book again.

Atlas Shrugged is still something I feel a little exaggerated on the consequences for there always exists shades of grey in between...

The thread is open for such healthy critical views.. Please share them..

Thanks Rakhii :) for the initiation
