அரசனும் அறிஞனும்

26. மன்னனு மாசறக் கற்றோனுஞ் சீர்தூக்கின்
மன்னனிற் கற்றோன் சிறப்புடையன்-மன்னற்குத்
தன்தேச மல்லாற் சிறப்பில்லை கற்றோர்க்குச்
சென்றிட மெல்லாம் சிறப்பு.

அரசனும், கசடற கற்ற புலவனும்/கல்வி அறிவு உடையோனும், யார் மேலோர் என்று பார்த்தால், அரசனுக்கு தன் நாட்டில் தான் சிறப்பு, புலவனுக்கோ/ கல்வியில் சிறந்தவனுக்கோ, தன் நாட்டில் மட்டும் அல்லாது, தான் செல்லும் பிற இடங்களிலும் சிறப்பே.

If you weigh the greatness of the king and a learned person, the greatness of the king is known only in his kingdom, but the greatness of the learned people is known where ever he goes.

பல்வகைக் கூற்றங்கள்

27. கல்லாத மாந்தர்க்குக் கற்றுணர்ந்தார் சொற்கூற்றம்
அல்லாத மாந்தர்க் கரங்கூற்றம்-மெல்லிய
வாழைக்குத் தானீன்ற காய்கூற்றங் கூற்றமே
இல்லிற் கிசைந்தொழுகாப் பெண்.

கல்வி அறிவு இல்லாதவர்களுக்கு, கற்றவருடைய சொற்கள், தருமத்தில் விருப்பம் இல்லாதவர்களுக்கு
தருமமும், வாழை மரத்திற்கு அதன் (வாழை)காயும், இல்வாழ்க்கைக்கு பொருந்தாத துணைவி, துணைவனுக்கு, யமனாவர்.

The words of the literate causes destruction to the illiterate (that is the perception of the illiterates).
The principles are means of destruction to those who do not follow any principles.
The bananas itself cause destruction to the banana tree.
Wife, who is not suitable for a family, brings destruction to her husband.

கெட்டாலும் மனவிரிவு குறையார்

28. சந்தன மென்குறடு தான்தேய்ந்த காலத்துங்
கந்தங் குறைபடா தாதலால்- தந்தந்
தனஞ்சிறிய ராயினுந் தார்வேந்தர் கேட்டால்
மனஞ்சிறிய ராவரோ மற்று.

மெல்லிய சந்தன கட்டை, தான் தேய்ந்த போதிலும், மணத்தையே தரும். அதுபோல அரசர்கள், செல்வத்தில், குறைந்தாலும், மன வலிமையில் குறையமாட்டார்கள்.

Just as the sandalwood gives perfume till it is burnt out, the valour of the kings will not be lost even after his kingdom is lost.

நிலையில்லாத வாழ்வு

29. மருவினிய சுற்றமும் வான்பொருளும் நல்ல
உருவும், உயர்குலமு மெல்லாம்- திருமடந்தை
அம்போ தவளோடு மாகும் அவள்பிரிந்து
போம்போ தவளொடு போம்.

இனியஉறவும், செல்வமும், நல்ல அழகு, உயர்குலம், இவையெல்லாம் திருமகள் வரும்பொழுது கூடவே வரும்.
அவள் செல்லும் போது, கூடவே சென்று விடும்.

Good relationships, wealth, beauty, birth in a noble family, these accompanies when Goddess of wealth stays with a person. These vanish with her, when She leaves that person.

அறவோர் அருள் உள்ளம்

30. சாந்தனையும் தீயனவே செய்திடினும் தாமவரை
ஆந்தனையும் காப்பர் அறிவுடையோர்- மாந்தர்
குறைக்குந் தனையுங் குளிர்நிழலைத் தந்து
மறைக்குமாங் கண்டீர் மரம்.

தன்னை வெட்டும் அளவிற்கு வந்த மனிதர்க்கு நிழல் தரும் மரத்தைப் போல், அறிவுடையோர், தமக்கு உயிர்போகும் அளவுக்கு தீமை செய்தோரை, தாமால் இயன்ற அளவுக்கு காப்பர்.

Noble people would do good to those who hurt them, even at the time of their (noble person's) death, just as the tree which would give shadow to the person, who cuts it.
