    Hi,
Last year when I followed keto,I tried intermediate fasting and I lost weight because of both. Now I am trying to follow keto but due to my laziness I couldn’t prepare separately for myself( vegetarian) . At least I think of following intermediate fasting. Did anyone tried it? What should I follow when I am doing intermediate fasting(16:8) .? Any pros and cons about it?

    Following this thread.
Thanks for this query. I am planning to start IF. I don't know the exact rules or tips to follow. Waiting for other's inputs.
Right now, I am just having my dinner around 6.30 and having the next day breakfast at 10am. Planning for around 15-16 hours gap.
But it's very difficult to follow and I am feeling hungry again at 10pm.
Don't know how to follow this. I am just planning to try this to reduce my weight and also the inflammation in my body.

if you are hungry, you can have some black coffee or black tea. I take if I am hungry during this fasting period.

I have followed intermittent fasting for 24 hours with zero contact with water externally and internally and no food.
Was quite tough around 22 hours but loved the results.

Problem is you should do proper prep work and break fast correctly.Shoild never forget on food.

planning to start one on Saturday.

    16:8 is super easy.
Finish dinner by 5 or 6 and have no food until next morning and do the brunch.

people take black coffee during the fast but personally experts don’t recommend that.

Last year I did intermediate fasting without any intake but initially it was difficult.i used to get headache and lack of sleep. So I took black coffee for it. Now I started again, started to take black coffee .once I am into full fasting I will avoid coffee.

That said, it's important to note that intermittent fasting isn't a diet. It's simply a schedule for eating. Or to put it another way, intermittent fasting is about when you eat, not what you eat. Of course, you'll probably see better results if you're eating a diet of real, unprocessed foods in addition to intermittent fasting.

I am doing IF for the last three weeks. I kind of follow 18:6 and keep one day where I eat breakfast with my family and just eat smaller portions that day. We eat dinner at 6:00 and then I usually have green tea (no sugar no milk) around 9 PM. I skip breakfast and have lunch around 12. I drink coffee in the morning (black) and lots of water throughout the day.

I haven't lost any pounds yet but I have lost about 3 inches.

Learnt something interesting from the link Amulet shared above.

That said, I have heard that women may find a wider window of eating to be more favorable when doing daily intermittent fasting. While men will typically fast for 16 hours and then eat for 8 hours, women may find better results by eating for 10 hours and fasting for 14 hours. The best advice I can give anyone, not just women, is to experiment and see what works best for you. Your body will give you signals. Follow what your body responds favorably to.

The headache is coz toxins are leaving your body.

Do not force your body more than it can take.If you get hunger pangs by 15 hours, exit the fast.

    Slowly develop the time increase.

    Good luck

I totally agree with the statement. Listen to your body- I am not a breakfast eater and have been eating dinner at 6 since my son started school last year. Our kids go to bed at 8:30 so 6 PM works for our family to eat and then relax together for a few hours before bedtime.

I leave home at 7 AM and usually busy until 9:30 AM (drive to work and then teach). I have never been much into eating breakfast...usually eat a banana on my way to work. In a way, I have been IF for longer than I give myself credit for :). My reason for doing IF is to avoid eating junk food (candies and pastries that I love). Now, I eat whole food 3-4 times in my eating window and don't feel hungry.

If you start eating healthy food and control your portion size, IMO, you don't even need fasting.

I respectfully disagree with @anika987, headache is not because toxins are leaving the body. It could very well be dehydration if you are not drinking enough water. Our kidneys and liver are built to remove toxins on a regular basis. Healthy food (a lot of fruits, nuts, veggies, whole flour etc) is there to help our body detox.
