Yes I got it in an hour! I put the stuff inside and washed my hands immediately.
Received amber alert that Covid 19 cases are increasing rapidly in my county. All these days it was not that bad. Now my only option is ordering online. Sad part is I don’t have disinfectant wipes so I shouldn’t touch them for few days.
This situation calls for a little macgyvering.
I don't think we be able to get enough disinfectant wipes to wipe everything down. Soap and water that can disinfect our hands could do the job for all stuff coming in to the home too.
I am wiping down all packages, cans, bottles, plastic boxes of our consumables and Amazon deliveries with a soapy wash cloth. Then letting it be overnight. And then wiping down next day with wet cloth.
I was washing all veggies with water only. From this weekend I am going to start using diluted soapy water.
For people in flats (with balconies), they can wear nitrile gloves, take the box to the balcony, and spray the box with 10% shampoo(any liquid soap) in water (gently mix and don't shake to make bubbles) in a spray bottle. Spray the box (top and sides), and let it soak in for a minute or so. This is the box washing its hands-touched-spots, to be rid of any pathogen. And then use a sharp knife, cutting-thingummy to cut the tape and open the box. Most items in large shippers are packed by gloved personnel, so you do not necessarily need to wash the contents with shampoo/water. But then... if you want to, there'd be nobody to stop you.
Laundry bleach is a disinfectant. Both chlorine and peroxide types -- the latter is much milder. Dilute well before using, and wear gloves. wikihow has methods of preparing your own disinfectant wipe (with pictures of steps) using a bottled disinfectant and paper towels. what if you don't have paper towels ? use regular cloth hand towels, repurpose old banians from dH. etc.. .be a Macgyver.
I am in CA. So bad here. Does Costco deliver milk and eggs? Did anyone tried this week?
I tried today evening but the place order button is disabled.
Instacart will deliver from Costco. You may have to wait for a delivery time. The tricks we try is to not order too many items at once and to leave a very generous tip so your order gets quickly picked by an Insta shopper.
Rubbing alcohol is the one that kills virus. It's the main content in sanitizer. Just spray it on surfaces and hands that you want to disinfect
If you can’t find rubbing alcohol in the shops try going to a liquor store and ask for the almost 100% grain alcohol. Then dilute that to 70% with water: i.e 70 ml alcohol+30 ml
Water. We use that as a disinfectant spray in the lab.
Thanks for the tips, MalStrom. Really helps. I used Instacart once a while back before Coronovirus and forgot to specify do not substitute. The shopper substituted a weird equivalent item. I learnt to choose the 'substitute' option for each item I order. To be fair, she did text me about the substitution before check out.
I didn't know that the orders get picked up by Insta shoppers and that number of items/ amount of tip can decide how quickly it gets picked up.
What does "You may have to wait for a delivery time." mean?
Don't they deliver it within 1-2 days? I read they are offering contact less delivery so one need not be home when it is delivered or at least need not open the door.
Dumb questions... I am an Amazon order/returns pro but Instacart newbie. But want to use Instacart. I guess she shopper will combine a few orders and then go to the store. So, this is keeping some people outside the store and helping those who need the money to have an income...
