    Hi ladies,

I am back from the doc. He's advised me to go for one last round of clomid, 150mg this time.
Next would be HSG and Ovarian drilling (I almost screamed hearing that the first time...lol).
Am now a bit anxious about how the whole procedure would be done here. Will probably read through the forum and know more about it in the next month.

    Fingers crossed :)

Hi Tanoshii,I live in nw london n currently 17 weeks pregnant through IVF icsi in nhs.ad I hve been in TTC more than 4 yrs and had missed miscarriage in 2009(pregnancy from natural cycle IUI).I have had all the testes or procedures which includes in ttc like HSG,cervical dilatation, hystroscop, hystrolap,Natuaral cycle IUI(2) , medicated IUI(4)and IVF icsi one fresh(2) and other frozen, all the treatments had in India except 2 IUI had in private clinic london and one more IVF in London through NHS then i got pregnant last yr.When i compare the experience i feel NHS IVF exp was so peacefull and relaxed might me becos hubby was with me from start of madication to finish but did have some problem with mil and hormons.By the by I had mild pcos and used ovulate monthly and periods were regular too and I am on the slimer side compared to the people who r obess or overweight. If ur going to india for vacation then i think u can get all the tests done in India bring all the reports and discuaa with ur gynec about other options when ur done with HSG and drillling. If u need any info about the ttc treatments in NHS u can ask me...Lots of baby dust to u dear.Shweta

Thanks a lot for your reply Shweta. Congratulations on the pregnancy. Sounds super reassuring especially after knowing you got the IVF done here in NHS and that the process was very relaxed and peaceful.

The only reason I do not want to go to India now is the Family factor. They are rather anxious now and I know for sure I won't be an exception, absorbing most of it once I go there and start the treatment. Besides I cannot go there for another 2 months cos our passport is stuck with the UKBA for visa extension. Since I have been offered the next step here, we are thinking we'll give it a try. And like you said, its just me, my husband and all the crazy hormones. As long as I don't have to deal with any more new entities, I'm better off here.

I would like to know about the private clinics though. And how did you manage to go all the way to IVF with NHS? I found it rather hard to communicate our urgency/seriousness with this situation.

I do suffer terribly irregular cycles too. So its making me all the more unfit for a good paced treatment. NHS does not seem to be bothered by it much either.

One more doubt I have - did you have the HSG and Ovarian drilling done at the same time there in India? And is there a restriction on the period we'd have to wait before we start TTc again?

I spoke to my GP just yesterday. He's a major support for me here. And he said we were on the right track and that we SHOULD make the most of the time I am on Clomid. After the next cycle, there won't be any more looking back and it would only go further into the more complicated procedures. Was it seen the same way there in India?

A friend of mine had her Laparoscopy done recently, but right after, though she was ovulating and had only a block that was cleared and no PCOD, she was suggested IUI (natural cycle). Here when I asked if we could go ahead with IUI after the procedure, I was told that would not be of much use especially considering I have acute PCOS. And they did not make it very clear either as to what I'd have to go with next.

If you could help me with this, I'd be glad.
I am planning to contact my OBGYN in Chennai and talk to her about it. Before that I wanted to research all the avenues available here in the UK and decide accordingly.

I too wanted to suggest u to not to go to India specifically for the treatment but i thought if ur going then u would have had tests done in india.

I too think its better to continue ur treatmen here in UK bcos u'll be at peace here without any interference of inlaws/relatives.

I started with nhs in 2007 n they took one yr for basic tests n scans to complete and later they said u dont any major problems for conceiving naturally so be happy continue with ttc but nothing happened so i went to India in 5 times in theses 4 yrs to get iui and ivf done there. I got conceived in 2009 throygh iui but at 14 weeks had an missed abortion and after that I had 2 iui in London private hospital but two times they coulnt do the procedure and said may be i had stenosis(BUt it was not the case they dint do it properly ) n beliving that again i went to India and i said doctors abt n they did dilatation of cervix without checking properlly (They thought its allready confirmed that i have stenosis of the cervix) but then also nothing happened and doctor said everything is fine can conceive naturally.

Then in nhs they said they'l start clomid cycle but i already had many cycles of clomid wth indian doctors and they said we'll see and after may 1 yr we recomend u for IVF (they said no to iui becos i allrady had 5 times and they told i dont any problem so its considered as unexplained infertility so its better to go to ivf direclly).

We waited for 3 months then thought of going to india for ivf and had one fress and one frozen embryo transfer but again negative.

Then my sil is a doc she advised us to have hystolap and drilling as last try to see if evrything is normal but other doctors said not required becos i used to ovulate every month and have regular periods but sil was pressing us to have drilling and leave to god . I too thought again after 2 -3 if i dont conceive aagain need to take some other treatment so i gave in even then nothing happened.

THen here in 2011 april nhs they sent me letter saying i had been selected for frree 3 iui or one ivf cycle but i was tired so said will wait another 3 months as break n the start preparing for ivf.

At last in oct i went for ivf in nhs and it clicked and now im 18 weeks pregnant.

I have written all my history just to tell u that dont get stressed and tensed by going to india and all the problems just relax and enjoy life n continue ttc and treatment in nhs.

I had my HSG done in 2007 and hystrolap and ovarian drilling was in 2011 and they said 15 days rest is required and u can continuee ttc and some people conceive the very next cycle after drilling.

I think u should just continue the ttc in nhs and once u get ur visa ext done then u n ur dh can think after that and i'll tel u just relax n chill k.

Tanoshi u once said that ur dh is workoholic and not much involded with the ttc process.
I would suggest u too speak to ur dh about ur fears and that u wanted a family and try to take ur dh to ur next doctors apppiontment to get more involved in the proccess then u'll be relaxed that ur dh is also involved in the process.

In my case my dh was very much involved and much worried becos my sil used and inlwas used say reagularly come to India and have treatment otherwise it'll be very late n so many -ve thoughts. Filling his ears by saying how much u'll wait doctors are not woooried abt thats y they say ur fine and bla bla:rant ... so went went ahead had all the treatments in India but there it dint work n here in nhs it worked.

I am really happy n at peace and hoping for safe pregnancy this time n have full faith in god this time.

And forgive me for my spellings and mistakes in writting.

Lots of baby dust to you dear...

    Shweta

    Hi Shweta,

Thanks ton for the detailed information. It was very useful to me. Cos I know NHS here does not always give you the right picture and their way of going about this is a lot different from India. But yes, I do find it a lot more stress free. It takes loads of time, but it seems to happen somehow.

I am getting my husband to get more involved and in my last appointment he met the doctor and we both were told by the Doc himself that his cooperation and my age are major factors and we've got to take it seriously. He is showing loads of good signs now. It that I am not stressed on my own, but then "people" don't let me be. There is always the suggestion about changing the country, the hospital, the more of treatment and even about moving over to Ayurveda and ditch what I have here right now for good.

Right now I am glad our passport is stuck somewhere else..lol There were more complications with the application so I can't go home until May. Until then, from what I got from you and a few other friends, I think its worth getting the HSG and Lap done. I've never had any procedures done to check the actual condition I have.

Its always been scans over scans and now finally Clomid and follicular tracking.
I too had a missed abortion in 8 weeks in January 2010. Had a suction done and that was after one dose of Letsi. Unfortunately though I reacted well to that drug, here I was told its not legal to prescribe it for it has adverse side effects too.

Anyway, I am now all geared up with reducing my weight and getting set for the last cycle of clomid and then the other procedures. I will keep it in mind to get second opinions on what ever I am told here. I do have the chance to get all this done here and go to Chennai in 3 or 4 months.

But its really good to know you are enjoying your pregnancy now...I really guess the lack of all the shoving and stressing to get pregnant actually reacts the other way.

Hoping this next step tell us something and helps us get a direction.

Again, thanks a ton dear. :)
Take good care of yourself and your little gift. Wishes to your husband too :).

    Hi All :

I have recently moved toLondon precisely in Jan'12. I live in Hounslow, west london.
I have also been diagnosed with PCOD and had a missed abortion in Sep'11.
After reading these posts, I have gained confidence that something will workout for me here.
Can someone please tell me how do we go about meeting with a gynaec coz I was told that we cannot directly meet them.
As all of you say, yes the weight issue is a big problem and trying to shed extra kilos.
Can someone suggest me a good GP practice in this area?

Loads of baby dust to everyone :))

    Cheers
    Sowmya

    Hi Sowmya,
Welcome to London and IL :).
Treatment here is quite decent dear. It is a little slow, but it is definitely stress free.
To find a GP, you might want to ask the locals. If you have Indian friends around, they might be able to suggest better. You can look for more information here: NHS Choices - Your health, your choices. Type the name of your area in the Search box and you'll get the list of GPs practising in the area. You can choose from that. If you don't like the GP you have joined, you can change to another too. I did so. But don't expect the service here to be the same as in India. They will seem really sluggish and a little distant. But finally enough, it works.

About getting an appointment with a specialist, you'll have to get a reference from your GP only. That is the only way here. There are a few rules as to who qualifies for a specialist and who does not. Basically you should have been trying for more than a year or must have had 3 or more miscarriages to qualify. If you have been trying for more than one year and you do have your old reports, take them to the GP and talk to him about the possibility of a treatment here. But make sure you tell him all the details about your medical history.

Weight is always an issue with PCOD. But am sure things will get better dear.
Post back if you need more information.

All the best and baby dust to you. :)

    Hi Sowmya

I live in Hounslow too. The best bet for ur referral is to find a GP soon. Try the practice on 92 Bath Road. You might need to show any tests etc you had done previously. They will want to repeat all the tests, along with a cervical smear, then refer you to West Middlesex University Hospital (where I am going currently). Yes the process is slow, but does move on.. Good luck

BTW where do you live in UK??
