Oh well, its another day. Another day, full of dilemmas.

Woke up from a night of swinging between sleep and tired wakefulness. My precious pre teen (PPT) developed fever, the evening before , which I realised right before leaving office for the day. The entire time after that was spent thinking about what the next day entails; Whether this mum, who is just back from a hectic two week leave just the day before, should call in for another leave the next day or… just keep thinking…….

With fear and hope both, attend to the PPT after reaching home. In between the mind races to the various causes which could have led to the development of illness, bang in the middle of final exams!! The body is racing to supply all kinds of fever comfort food, steadfastly being refused by PPT to defuse the oncoming ordeal.

Mercifully the mercury doesn’t seem much beyond the 98.6 degree F mark. The night settles in, the mind and heart hoping that the mild fever would subside through the rest gained through the night. Alas!, as the clock ticks and the night progresses , PPT gets restless further and the mercury seems to climb higher. With no signs of abating , rather on the contrary, it rises through the night keeping PPT awake & uncomfortable and mom anxious .

Finally, after a spell of shut-eye, mum wakes up to check the sleeping PPT and there are beads of sweat on the forehead and the fever seems to abate finally. Thank the Lord’O’ Almighty!! The morning twilight brings relief.

Though another pang of dilemma resurfaces : to leave the sleeping child and rush to office to make it on time or to wait for the PPT to wake up and check and ensure a few drops of nutrition In the tummy to escape further guilt. The choice is obvious but there is no escaping from the guilt ever isn’t it….

So , with the choice of making it late to the office, a decision is made, oscillating between feelings of guilt and obvious righteousness. Then starts the whole waiting game; a good few minutes pass by reading the newspaper, which these days only tends to refuel growing feelings of discontentment and disappointment (that’s a separate topic ; couldn’t help digressing) .

However, much to my surprise , PPT seemingly determined to save mum darling from any further guilt tripping (delightful), wakes up right in time to agree to mum’s cajoling of having freshly tempered upma ( a favourite ow) ; And with DH cancelling his morning meeting to attend to the health of his progeny, a working mother finally can leave home guilt free J. Well , its another story that she’s still late for work and battles another set of conscience pangs. It’s another day! A new day!

Wait isn’t it Womens Day tomorrow ? ;)

I hope this qualifies for a mundane snippet read J and makes my day

    Dear Afresh,
Isn't it a relief that child is ok, dad taking off from meeting to take care of kid, you can go to work peacefully? In the present scenario going late is a small problem which you can tackle?
It is. See how life's situations (this word borrowed from Sabita) swing from negativity to positive outcome in one day!!!! That is how life swings.

    Afresh,

Phil Collins sang with certainty of another day in paradise for him.

For a commoner, jostling in the vicissitudes of everyday, rather than commanding the mythical paradise, you rather chose to capture the trepidation of the daily decisions.

A commoner withstands the helter-skelter by pushing that ongoing day to be a paradise each time the day rebels into a trouble. Is it paradise yet? Are we there yet? One more hour and ..Is it? Even till the midnight strike never know how the day would swing and counteract the hitherto certainty. Your "Another Day" floats along this doubt. What kind of another day is it? Will the Dad take care? Will the PPT endure?

You just put it down as another day with no further tilt.

Debut posters are also hastily contended as "another poster" not knowing if the emergence of freshness would merely survive or astonishing surpass. Not familiar with their writing style or predisposition, the casual reader faintly predicts from each preceding text their approach. Is it a sad ending? Is it a happy uplift? Will she bend it into something else? Where is she going with her post?

Another Day and Another Poster are interesting for they conceal within them the direction of their presence to the eventuality in their unidentified emanation. Hunch and imagination poked at the reader, the (another) day of that (another) poster turns out to be a surprise nudge. Wish you a lovely another day tomorrow!
