    Re: My daughter's poems

Dear All, I wish to post two more poems penned by daughter Akshatha and await your comments and responses

    My Dear Mother

Oh, my mother, How glad am I!
    you know, why?
    Its that you're my mom!
you are an angel in human form!

Mostly with all the good in world,
And the same will I like to mould,
    Of course, into myself,
I would love to help you with the shelf

Oh mom or should I say amma
You preach better than Dalai Lama
And you put it in practice too.
    Your patient hours of explanation
when I told we shall go to Water loo.

    You are filled with peace,
Which you show when you teach,
Oh Mom I love you more than anything I like,
You are, my ally and life.

Oh my mother, how glad am I!
    You know why?
    Its that you're my mom
You are an angel in human form.

    TO MY DEAR FATHER

    Father, Father!
You're just as sweet as mother
    Oh my sweet dad,
You were the same when you were a lad.

Oh boy, got to go to office?
    Do get some roses.

Though can't I be with you always,
I wanted to express my love by this poem phrase
Now let me let you know
    You're as sweet as roses
    Sweet as violets
    Sweet as everything sweet.

    You know the best
Yes, I know you can pass any test
Oh appa, It would be hard living away from you
You inspire me to do good
And you give good reasons for eating the right food

    You're my protector
    you're my inspirer
    And I am your follower
I hope you liked this poem
    Its just for you,
    from your loving Akshu!

    Kindly pass on your comments.

    Thanks and regards,
    sujatha

    Re: My daughter's poems

    Dear Sujatha,

First take some, salt some chillies and do dristhi for the sweet, dear Akshatha. The flow of words looks effortless; she doesn't strain herself to get the rhyme. Looks like words fall in place all by themselves. May Akshatha be blessed for ever and ever.

As your friend, Sujatha, I would just like to say this. Many children are born with talents. But only very few parents nurture them and make them grow. Now Akshu has shown tremendous promise as a poet. It is upto you and your dear husband to make her talents grow. That does not however mean demanding her to write one poem a day. Poets do not work the way gymnasts do. It is not a question of regular exercise. But even for a gifted poet some kind of writing discipline is required. Instill that in Akshu by your kind words and soon we will have a very good poet to show off to the whole world.

I am not sure whether Akshu knows Tamil or writes in Tamil. But if her regular education does not include Tamil, please arrange some kind of a private coaching for that.

My prayer is that the meaning of Akshu's name shall apply to her words too. You know that ksha in sanskrit means that which can be destroyed or eliminated. So Aksha means immortal. So let Akshu's words too along with herself live long.

Again the word Akshara, which means "the letters" and Akshatha share the same root. May be that explains Akshatha's proficiency with words.

I pray to Goddess Meenakshi that Akshu be blessed with health, happiness, peace, prosperity and an enormous sense of fulfilment.

    regards,

    Re: My daughter's poems

Dear Mr. Varalotti, Thank you very much for your great words of appreciation and we will follow your words of advice and encourage her in her work. Her regular education doesn't include Tamil, but i have taught her to read tamil. I teach tamil for the tamil children here and so she has learnt to some extent. But she doesn't have any writing skills in Tamil. I will try to develop her tamil skills too. :thankyou2:

    Thanks and regards,

    Sujatha

    Hi sujatha,

I have read akshatha's poems before, and also i think replied to them when we were discussing with subbusir in some thread...let me say it again....

akshatha has a creative mind..and a way with words...please do encourage her..and looks like her grandfather's involvement is showing great fruits..

Put her poems in the poetry contests for kids on the web....

Dear Shanthi, Thanks for your fb. Yes what u say is right. My father encourages her to write. He is also a voracious reader and he wanted to write when he was young. But he failed to do so because of his work. So he keeps telling her that and he also mention in his writing. I will reproduce a letter he had written to me once.

" How is poet Akshatha? I will be much blessed and pleased, if she emerge as literary samrat, as i had failed therein due to circumstances. The lines "The times I have been with you may be very few, but you are in my heart forever" are lingering in my heart all the twenty four hours in a day. I know that I don't deserve for such an esteemed respite, but I long for it. I am fortunate to have her all along in my mind through her verses".

These words bring tears in my eyes even when i read it now after a period of 1 year. I and my daughter cherish this letter. Whenever we call him he will ask what Akshatha has written. He is a source of inspiration for her. We miss him a lot being away from him. Thank you for kindling my sweet memories.

By the way, i have posted my daughter's photos in talented kids of Ilite moms. Pls let me have your comments.
