Aimpon metti

Hi all,
I have seen many ladies wearing gold metti (toe ring), really liked that, and wanted to have one for me.. DH said ok luckily.. I was so excited and called my mom over phone for shopping.. Jus said I'm going to buy gold metti.. But my mom said it is not all good to wear golden metti (ladies should not wear gold below waist).. So don't buy like that..
Really got upset.. Because I really loved those metti's..

Now ladies what I want to know is
1.Is it trur that we should not wear gold metti?
2.Can we wear AIMPON metti atleat?
3.Where in chennai I can buy AIMPON metti?

Yes Kalpana your mom is correct. we are treating gold as Lord Lakshmi and we are not supposed to wear gold below waist.
More over it changes from families to families. Please contact your in-laws and if they accept you can?

you can check with goldsmith. there are chances they will have these kind of mettis.

Thanks for your reply neni.. From my in laws side they won't tell anything if I wear even if we don't have the tradition..
But now I'm thinking about mom's words only, she said its like a sin..
That's why searching for AIMPON metti (panchalokam metlu) instead.. So that I least I can feel light..

Hi G3sudha, now gold mettis are available in almost all leading jewel shops.. My doubt is whether we can wear or not..

and need to know about AIMPON too..

Hi Kalpana,

I too love to wear gold metti and Anklet, but my family never allowed it.
I bought impon metti and Anklet in T Ngr saravana store and its also available in kaithari (Kathi craft) in DMS bus stop.

yeah, even I was told by many not to wear gold anklet(same reason that goddess lakshmi should not be worn on the leg ) and personally I think anklets and mittis look much prettier and lustrous in silver than gold.

Thanks for your reply shruthi.. Anyway I'm not going to buy the gold metti.. Actually when I got married I had metti in three fingers.. (As per my custom).. Then I removed one in each side as it appeared odd.. (Usually I have seen many wearing one metti only)
Now having two metti's on each side.

Ya I too like the silver ones but what to do..aasai yara vittuchu!!?!!
