Desi type wooden wedges , means small solid wooden piece place in the doors corner so it doesnt move an inch however strong wind is ! ( these types are even tried today in our granny house in Mysore )

It leaves a white residue on my silver (lamps idols plates etc)and does not have that sparkling finish ..so back to the chemical polish... Any ideas? Happy New year folks !

This adda is turning out to be a cleaning and housekeeping thread for now : ) My next question: What air freshener do you use for bathroom, toilet and bedrooms in the house? In winter, when opening the windows is not an option often. I am sure there are many options, looking for recommendations. I am finding out that I am hopelessly outdated in knowledge of many conveniences now available to be bought for money.
@jskls ..ah ok..I am missing this step then. Will try it for pongal. Inlaws and parents bring me brass decorative things. Large lamps...etc Another option would be nice Tanjavur paintings...

Febreze...and for the bathrooms I use the potpourri available in most stores..+ scented candles when i have visitors... DH is very sensitive to strong odors and febreze is my go to choice these days.

When i was in college in Chennai. we once had representatives of Johnson and Johnson visit us to provide information on the monthly cramps and how to avoid them (at least reduce the pain). The squeezing action of the uterus to push out the stuff is what causes pain for many of us. So the best way is to prepare the uterus for this by doing some abdominal exercises like sit ups, and sucking in the stomach whenever we remember. Sit ups need not be vigorous. just 10 or 15 everyday. I did this and found them very effective all through the years. Try.
