Is it safe to do the acid wash on bathroom ceramic tiles? Is there any disadvantages in doing it... How often can it be done in safe limits...
Dear Arch You have to actually test this on one tile in one corner of the bathroom where it would not be noticed. Also you can dilute the acid if it is too strong. One of my tenants used acid on floor tiles in the bathroom and it eroded the surface. So be carefull. Always test it on one single tile in a corner and then use it( even if you were to dilute it).
Arch, I 100% agree with tinku..test it in a corner of your bathroom and proceed accordingly. Advantage:- The best source for cleaning. The result is that clean and cannot be compared with any liquid cleaners Disadvantage:- 1.Sure by time the texture of the floor starts to change(chemical reaction) 2.Inhaling such fumes(mixes in air) is nto good for health. So we should be pre-cautious
I too agree with tinku and Cindhu. Instead you use Harpic. I applied Harpic through Sponge on wall tiles and left for 15-20 minutes. After Washed. You cant believe, all the stains are gone in first wash itself. Try it. Its best really.
err... well actually what i meant was the professional acid wash.. not by ourselves.. just like part or renovation or painting walls, or polishing mosaic and all, i have heard there is an option for acid wash ceramic tiles, and that its commonly done in bathrooms.. i wanted to know whether anyone has done that, and whether know abt its disadvantages...
Dear Arch, When we had constructed our new house and also renovated the old one, we had got an acid wash done. It helps to get rid of all stains. But make sure it is diluted and do not leave for too long.. Just ask them to apply with the help of a paint brush on all the tiles and clean them off immediately. Hope this helps.
Yes..I too agree..I use red harpic for tiles cleaning, it smells like bleaching powder. So result comes good
