About cousins baby ..My mom feels it as good omen..your views?

Hi,
I recently attended cousins wedding. I happened to hold a small baby (another distant cousins son) on my lap for some time. I did not realize that he actually went to toilet as I wore saree.. When I got up I found this thing and gave this baby to my cousin and washed my saree..
My mom told me that this is good omen..Have you ladies heard about this and what are the effects of this sweet gesture by baby

I feel our elders say this as a good omen to just to pacify us and not to make us feel sad about our spoiled dress/saree.....

If it is really true, then definitely everyone tries to hold the babies for long hours in their laps to get this good omen.....

Hmmmm............... your family seems to have very different customs and ways of relating to distant relatives. Things that don't happen in the rest of India.

I've heard about this too. It has got to do nothing about the cousin or his/her kid. It is a general superstition about any babies who spoil our dress with their poo/loo, and the elders say it is a good omen.
It is mainly to keep you motivated from that "attack" and also to save the child.
If that is not the case, I can't imagine the state of that poor child...

But take this comment as a complement for that moment. It has no real meaning beyond this.
Don't have over expectations, and disappointments later on.

I think it's a good omen as it happened in my case.My friend got married earlier than me and visited my house with her six month old baby.I was holding the baby and he wet my dress,immediately I gave the baby to my friend and ran to clean my dress.My friend started laughing uncontrollably by looking at my face and said you will soon get married and will hold a baby. I did not believe her and left that matter there as we were not even looking matches for me but within six months I got married and had a baby.I don't say that it will be true in everyone's case and I don't encourage this superstition but I can definitely say its a good omen.
