    My dear Sisters,

I recently happened to read some posts made by Christian ILs regarding inter-religion marriage and the kids's spiritual upbringing.I must say that some comments made were not in good taste. Please refrain from making any comments that would hurt other's sentiments.I am a believing Christian too and i really find it against our Christ's teachings to have such an attitude.Let us respect other people's faith and whatever is personal should be kept personal(eg- your arrangement with your spouse about visiting places of worship).
Do not make a us(Christians) sound like a rigid intolerant people.

    Preet,

A little disappointed to see this from you. I was very much a part of that thread and would like to point out that there is nothing wrong in sharing our personal choices for the benefit of the OP. I cannot speak for anyone else who posted there and I definitely agree that we should exercise restraint when writing online about our belief systems (i.e., not make hurtful comments about others' beliefs) and I definitely don't encourage sending hate-mail to others! (lol) What was appalling was that , if OP can say she wants bring up her child in X faith or a mix of X and Y faith (in agreement with her spouse) and I say I want to bring up my child in Y faith (in agreement with my spouse), why should my choice be singled out and censured by those who, obviously, don't like it just because it didn't appeal to their own secular belief systems? The irony is that my post never sought anyone's opinion, advice, help, or sympathy! Yet people took it upon themselves to tell me how my marriage ought to be, why its unfair for me not to go to other places of worship while my DH comes to church (oh, never mind the minor detail that he does it out of his own volition and without any coercion from me or anyone else and accepts me for my choices!), and how this is the root cause of all my problems with my ILs and that they are the ones who should be pitied!

My point is, restraint should be practiced by ALL ladies on this forum and not just those from a particular faith stream. Fairness and respect for the belief systems of others should be practiced by ALL and not just those who don't subscribe to secular beliefs. While I join you in asking fellow-believers to be peace loving and sensitive to others, I don't think we should be ashamed of sharing our personal choices, irrespective of whether it gets the nod of approval from others or not. (the above was addressed to the OP and NOT to get anyone to agree/disagree with me! sigh...)

I don't want to start this discussion again as it is over and done with and has been dealt with appropriately by IL admins. So, I WILL NOT be responding further to any more posts on this thread, no matter how provocative they may be. But, I WILL report any rude, disrespectful, personally attacking post.

Preet, I have sent you a PM as well...so let's continue the conversation there :)

I very much agree with CJ. Even I had posted my comments regarding OP post. But I saw the hate comments from other ILites regarding religion. We Christians just ignore when someone passes rude comments on our religion. I think we should change ourselves and stand up for our religion.
Everyone has sentiments towards their religion. I feel people should respect it.

When two people of different religious background come together as a couple, it is they who have to decide how they have live, what they have to follow. Its no one else' business to interfere.

I saw many people question CJ and Tugga. I believe if CJ and TUgga have made clear before marriage , then I don't think they have made anything wrong. Since the person who married them are/were comfortable. If the in-laws are not satisfied, then it was the duty of the son to take care of it, since he was the man who agreed when their spouse had put down her condition. It is his responsibility to make his parents understand his promise. Its not that man has to NOD his head before marriage and once marriage is done, he can't think he is married now and can do whatever he wants and take his parents side.

As far as I have come across couple who are into inter-religious marriage, when the kids are grown, the kids will follow the mother's religion because the kids are close to her and also a mother can teach only about her religion. If the father is also religious, then I think , the kid will follow both religions. just my 2 cents.

    Dear Godsgrace,

I have nothing to comment about the inter-religious marriage and relevant agreement between the spouses. Its personal and up to them.I am only concerned about the light of Christ that we are reflecting here. What we do and what we say should attract people to Christ and not wanna run away from us.some of the comments made could have been avoided.I am not starting an argument here nor asking for justification for those comments.I am saying that as religion is sensitive to everybody, lets be careful when we post something related to it.
I love the way Carol quotes the Bible Verses to encourage someone here and also the testimonies that are written everyday.Praise God for that.Lets keep SHINING FOR HIM and keep these unfruitful squabbles away from these forums.
PS-Its not my intention to point fingers at anyone or offend anyone.I love and respect all my sisters-in-Christ.

    I am Suhasini
I have been a silent reader for quite a long time, specially the relationship forums. As far as I remember, I stopped participating (earlier I used to be a very active member here) in Indus Ladies because of the very rude comments by some fellow Lites about my religious faith. I am a Christian.

I really don't understand the term "other's sentiments" here. I have seen posts from Muslim friends, those mention eating Pork is prohibited/haram(sin) according to their religion. While wearing hijab is halal and marrying to a Non-Muslim is Kafir.
I also have read a few posts, that explain how sinful it is to eat or cook non-vegetarian dishes at home (mainly in Bramin's) or eat/or touch them on some special holy days.
There have been so much discussions as to how couple agree among themselves about food practices, fasting/observing poojas, special days etc..etc.. Specially when you marry someone from a diff background.
None of them have been seen as a hurtful statements or bad comments that hurt other's sentiments. But mentioning something like visiting temples or praying to other gods are not acceptable as per Christianity was highlighted as a big SIN here.

I received so much painful comments for one of my very decent comment about my religious faith a couple of years back, hence I refrain from participating here. Now I see, CJ and Tugga are becoming victims for similar statements. I havent seen any one from the Majority becomes victim for such statements.

By the way, I could not contact Tugga, or see her profile/posts anymore?
