She never even expected that she would be given the honour of hoisting the National flag when she accompanied her grandson to the school on Republic day. It was a great surprise for her.

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful experience with all of us here on the eve of India's grandest and most cherished glorious Republic Day.
You took me back to my school days when we would all be on the school ground dressed in white with small paper flags pinned on our uniforms. After the flag-hoisting and national anthem, we would have small programmes and contests and a much-awaited prize distribution as well.
It is indeed an honour for your sister to hoist the national flag and a moment to cherish for the entire lifetime.
    Happy Republic Day

    Dear RKG,
Thank you for your fb. I had the good fortune of attending the first Independence day and the first Republic day function at school. Even at the young age it was a moment of pride for us and we enjoyed singing the Bharathiyar's Tamil song "தாயின் மணிக்கொடி பாரீர்" and "jenda unchaa rahe hamara" and the National anthem.

Last year's Republiday was a cherishable event in my sister's life.
