Thank you raj77. A friend reminded me recently that besides giving lectures on the importance of education, we Desi moms, are also experts in lecturing our kids on how to behave in front of guests. Each time we expect one.:bang So very true at least in my case. Poor children.

The more I think about my 'Desiness', the more I feel that I so very richly deserve my 'Desi Mom' title. :)

Thank you Mansimahi. Your daughter rolls her eyes too? My daughter does it so much so that if I don't see those lovely black pair or eyes rolling atleast once every hour, I have this itch to call her Optometrist to get them checked out.:biggrin2:

    Dear Mindi,
It is lovely to be interacting with you after so many months.:cheers And I know that I have no one to blame but myself for that fact :hide:so do forgive me for my disappearing acts Mindi.

Your daughter is so right. I see it too. Even as the India I knew as a child and grew up in has changed dramatically, I find myself staying the same having the same old notions, expectations and values that I was brought up in. And that is why my poor friends and family are stuck with this 'frozen in time' Meena. :)

The good thing is I like me just the way I am so no problems (for me at least:rotfl).:thumbsup

Enjoyed the essay immensely. I realised when I married as to why my mom was also a "Desi mom" (though I was also a desi at that time). Now I dread the day my kids would call me one!! I hope years from now, I'll be able to tell them these very reasons and let them know why "I said so"..

    Thanks for sharing meenasankaran :).

Thank you very much Bhargavi. It has been a long time since I wrote anything in Tamil. Will get around to it soon thanks to your reminder. :)
