    A COLD DAWN!!!!!!

    As the night turns longer….
    And the chill nips into the flesh;
    All the cardigans and sweaters
Are brought out of their hiding closets…….

    As I open the windows,
    A white blanket spread out….
The trees bathed in silvery foliage
    The dew dropping still….

    Looks like Mother Nature
    Has draped herself in white
    With white tresses
Making it a lovely sight to behold

As the wind blows another bout
    Of fresh white flakes
    On my face…
    Making me shudder…………

I draw my coat closer to me…
    With a hot cuppa in my hand;
    Which might bring in
    The much needed warmth

As the first silvery rays peep out
    Behind the grey cotton balls…
Spreading itself on the white carpet
    Making it glow……

    The dew melts in shyness
    At the sudden touch…
Making it fall in tiny droplets
And shimmer in the sudden warmth

As I tread on the white expanse
Sending a chill across my spine…
As the golden glow caress my
Whole body in a warm embrace….

I stood still with my eyes full
My mind in a serene bliss
    Eager to capture
    The myriad hues of Nature…..

Well written about a cold and snowing day Lalitha. And capturing nature's hues requires several lifetimes I feel. Besides, whats normally a disappointing sight to many, living abroad [ a terribly cold day, snowing all night and a weak sun] is being seen positively here. Nice. -rgs

    Dear Lalitha,
as usual a very good poem. beautiful words And a wonderful description of the cold morning. Your lines are becoming mature by the day. But, honestly, Lalitha I would prefer your writing on your HM, where you are really emotional and the expressions intense.
thanks for sharing a soft poem very apt for the season.
    love,
    sridhar

Thanks a lot Rgs for the first to give such a lovely comment.

Yes generally the cold is depressing but I felt it very different, hence the birth of this...:-D

    Dear Sridhar,

Thanks a lot for gracing this thread with your encouraging comments. As you may be some of my poems are more intense but it is nice to have some light moments too right. What do you say?

    Dear Sowmya,

Thats a very apt question...if these scribblings can be called a poem...........? These are just my thought process which I pen down when I find time and the mood.... Thanks for your comment dear.
