Hi friends, MY DD is 15 months old and was having loose stools and vomiting since last Thursday. Today she is ok and a bit normal. But she has lost nearly 1 kg in this one week. She has reached her 10th month weight. I am very worried on this. Please suggest with some food which can help in increasing her weight. Food intake also reduced. My Routine 8am: 300ml milk. 10am: 1 dosa/2 idlies 12.30:little rice with dal(sometimes 1/2 egg) 3pm: 15-20 pearls of pomegranate(she likes pomegranate very much) 7pm:1 dosa. How about starting pediasure? Should i give her evening snacks?(what are the options?) Shall i give milk before bed?(sometimes only she likes) Please help in lunch ideas also. since i am giving her only dal with different veg daily. May be she s bored of same taste. Thanks, Helen
Hi Helen, Hope she will get back nomal soon.. Give your baby lots of water, juice & liquids to avoid dehydration of your baby. Consult your pediatrician about giving her pediasure. But Pediasure helps in gaining weight & balancing the uneven diet. I would suggest cutting the milk in morning, because it will affect her breakfast. 8.00 AM - Idly/Dosa or Whole grain Cereal with fruit or Bread Slices with Egg 10.30 AM - Mid morning snack(fruits & 180 ml whole milk or Formula) 1.00 PM - Rice, dhal(urad or moong or masoor),Veg(change it everyday),ghee. 4.00 PM - Mid evening snack (2 Biscuits or cheese slices or boiled veg or pasta) & 180 ml whole milk or formula 7.00 PM- Dinner(whole grain upma, khichadi with any veg or veg dosa) 9.00 PM - 180 ml milk Offer her juice & water if she feels thirsty in between the meals Initially it will be very tough to get into the routine.. Try,try try again.. She will get into the routine soon.. We can get more ideas in this forums..
@ Karthema Thanks a lot for the valuable suggestion. I will surely follow this routine and make her used to it slowly. This way she is getting lot of calcium through milk. She will sleep from 10.30 till 12. so only not able to give the mid morning snack. Hope she will like the change. friendssmiley
For the time being, to prevent immediate dehydration, also include pediatric electrolyte to replenish the lost salts.
@Rakhii I have given the electrolyte powder as advised by the ped. She is now normal. Thanks a lot for the suggestion. yesterday she got up by 2.30 am and started crying continuously for nearly 1 hr. nothing helps in pacifying her.:drowning. then she played for another one hr and slept after that. Usually she will not get up in between.
