11 days Ganesh festival in Hyderabad

You can see Khairatabad Ganesha photo before your post. After so many years again this year Ganesha idol can be seen seated on his throne.

 

Hi Sindhu, thanks for fb and i know how much you are missing Hyderabad! Happy that all Hyderabadi's far from city can have a glance at this thread to know how Ganapathi's festival is being caried this year sure your family is in my prayers!

Dear Mals, thank you for stepping in and for fb Yeah, in Hyderabad during this 11 day festival Ganesha can be seen every where in the city. And more over Hyderabad has emerged as a major centre for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.

 

Hi Priya, hope immersion is on 14th of this month according to Ganesha vustav samithi, Hyderabad. But police won't allow all idols till that day because of security and traffic problems. So the pandols except in main places will be removed before last day.

And the purpose of Ganesha's immerssion after festival is to say that all the existants in this world from earth must go back to earth! That is to denote that we have come from the earth and we will go back to the earth. Not only Ganesha idols but even Kali's idols after Dusheera will be immersed, the spirit in the idol will remain to protect us but the body will be immersed such that every year we can worship god in new idol. Upto my knowledge this is what i know but if any more info than this anyone can share.
