ஆன்மா-உயிர் வித்தியாசம் ஆன்மாவிற்கு உடலும், மனமும் கருவிகள். உதாரணத்திற்கு, உடல் - கார் ஓட்டுனர் - ஆன்மா என்ஞின் - மனம் பெட்ரோல் - உயிர் எரிபொருள் (பெட்ரோல்) காலி ஆகிவிட்டால் வண்டி நின்றுவிடும். ஓட்டுனர் (ஆன்மா) வண்டியை விட்டு வெளியேறி விடுவார் இந்த உடலை விட்டு உயிர் பிரிந்ததும் ஆன்மாவும் உடலை விட்டு வெளியேரும். ஆன்மா, மனம், உயிர் இதில் எது, அதிக சக்தி வாய்ந்தது என்றால் ஆன்மா தான். ஆன்மாவிற்கு அழிவில்லை. I beg to differ in the above statement According to Sri Adi Sankara , athma and uyir are one and the same and athma is the driving force and the body is the physical evidence for the existence of athma (In case of death, athma is not there).
