Any suggestions???

Hi all,

Does anybody have any tips to prevent cooking smell from spreading in the whole house. Everytime I cook something the smell spreads in the whole place and although I keep my bedroom doors and closets closed it somehow finds it way into my clothes and stuff.

Your ideas are welcome.

Hi,
I normally keep the windows and open.After cooking just spray the room with room spray.It works well for me.

Use exhaust fan..

While starting the cooking and after finishing the cooking, leave it on for atleast 30 mts..

Hope this will work out..

Hi

Thanx for your time and suggestions. But in US, there are no windows in the kitchen. Moreover in winters, even you can't left your living room's door open.

Rest, I will try room spray. Thanx.

Amy, I am in NJ too, plainsboro city. Which city are you?

Hai,
try keeping a vessel of warm water (because 0f winter) to which one or two lemons cut into two is added. This may absorb the smell. You can even use vinegar instead of lemon. I hope this works.

Try boiling cinnamon sticks while cooking

Hi Megha,

I stumbled upon this message thread only today. Because of the layout of the apartments in the US (kitchens attached to living rooms without separate doors or windows), it is common for the cooking smell to spread across the apartment to the bedrooms and closets too.

Try this when you cook strong smelling foods...

Boil cinnamon sticks in water in the nearby stove while you cook strong smelling foods. This will absorb the strong smell as well the cinnamon smell will spread across the apartment.

I have tried this and it worked for me.

Hi guys,

Can you suggest me on cleaning dish washer particularly, the stains is getting accumulated on all the corners though use it regularly!!??

Dear Ami,

There are special detergents available to clean the dishwasher. You can use it from time to time. They are generally available in all the major grocery stores and in stores like Bed Bath and Beyond. Best of luck.
