Which state are you in? One of my friends told me that there is online shopping and shipping available for Indian groceries in Illinois State. I am in GA and I don't have any option. Only pickup option here. I was running out of atta and rice. So,I had to get those. If you don't want Indian groceries, you can get other groceries through instacart or Costco website.
I am in California. In the county I live in the cases are increasing rapidly so not stepping out.I just got a few groceries like milk, yoghurt, fish, chicken, eggs, onions, tomatoes delivered via Instacart from my local store. I will have to visit my local Indian store for a curb side pick up for a few essentials like rice and aata.
I always use black urid dal (and brown rice) for my idli/dosai and it comes out soft. Soaking time is just the same as white dal - overnight or 6-8 hours. No need to remove the skin. It tastes delicious. Yes, color is not white - but it doesn't bother us. Guests might make a comment.
Yes, true that was motivation to start this initially. We also started using masoor dal (orange dal) with skin on and it's a nice nutty, wholesome dal that goes with rice/chapati. More like a rajma/chole curry - that tastes good with some chopped raw onion on top.
Oh ok. Stay safe. Indian stores doesn't have the shipping option. We have to go out to get our Indian groceries. The other stuff we can get it from other store or Costco through instacart.
