Go with regular water ,sip it slowly..
Then start by having soft foods,a fruit.Banana is best.nibble it slowly.

then wait for twenty minutes and drink some
More water slowly.Your body is waiting for nutrition. So do not hurry or force feed and it will be adverse.

Eat soft foods, raw foods for sometime and then resume your regular meal.i like moong dal as it is soft for the stomach.make it mild.Do not eat junk after you break the fast or spicy foods.

Also as each one is different,do not wait till you are done with 16 and 24 hours and strain yourself. When you feel hunger pangs, break the fast.Thats fine. You will slowly build strength and next time do it longer hours.

Do fasts only the proper way as it puts strain in the body but the results are good.

    Nice one Anika.

Couple of questions I have is,
One, what are some healthy snack options particularly during the cold weather when eating fruit is not appetizing.
Two, what are some healthy breakfast options if you don't eat egg. ( outside of Idli, Dosa etc. ). I am told, oats are not good to be eaten everyday.

    For snack during winter..

Go for bajjis and pakoras:) I mean it!!:)
Now here is the trick.Make it with fresh oil at home and eat in moderation with hot chai.Your body will thank you, your cravings will be controlled and you will emotionally be happy and food will
    Digest faster.

    Our body craves warm
Foods during winter and hot foods during Summer.it is natural.Do not deny it in the name of diet and that is why people do not succeed in weight loss.

You will not gain weight coz of fried foods but how we do it is important.use the right oil and do not reuse that oil.

Second thing is,I make savouries at home and store it and when craving hits,i have it will tea.jaggery or a teaspoon of sugar is fine.

Eat roti with jaggery and ghee.

Peanuts, almonds with little pepper and salt.

Have a slice of bread with peanut butter sandwich.

    have our poha,upma,thalipeeth,sundal,dosa,wheat dosa,dhoklas etc.

Greek Yogurt with granola and fruits is yummy

    As for breakfast,have pancakes maker
Out of almonds flour, banana and honey or even wheat flour, banana and honey.

    Thalipeeth is great too

rava dosa and wheat dosa takes minutes to prepare.

Have a hot potato and veggie sandwich (once in a while for breakfast)

Smoothies are another great option but do not overdo smoothies.once a week is great.

    Parathas with ghee

    sago upma with peanuts..

    Our traditional
Foods have great wisdom and is curated with the right combinations.

I didn't know about Thalipeeth. Will try it out.

The problem with bajji and pakoda is it is hard to stop after one or two, if it home made.

Thanks for taking the time and providing so many options.

    No problem.

I know self control with food gets tough but it’s okay to have slips..just get back on track. For start try to eat right atleast 3 days and slowly get into the groove and make it a lifestyle.

After a while, everything will be easy:)

Anika - Dropped in to say this... :) What about becoming a fitness/health coach - after doing necessary formal training and official certifications. A much-needed space and one you seem to have an interest in. And you can choose your hours to be as family-friendly as possible.

    Hi..
I am also having lots of inflammation in my body. Been having the issues for past few months. Been to many doctors. All the doctors told me to take Ibuprofen and few prescribed heavy dosage too. Prescription strength and other NSAIDs.
But I want to try something though the diet too. What are the food we should avoid to reduce inflammation and foods to take?
