    Why not take up some hobbies or volunteer, go to a class, etc?

    Anika.. I see you re post this question about gathering home makers at intervals... yet you get few responses.

    I actually am also very pleasantly curious on how they do things around the house and manage all the nitty gritties and I have seen in some families they manage money better than their husbands!

    I don't think you are the ONLY homemaker here...They say every forum has 1% active population and 99% lurkers...there might be a few in that category.

    Anyway, I am as curious as you are :).

    However, on your question: Hobbies is a good place to start. Positivity and joy is an investment too... that adds great value to your life, not just money... add up on the little things that make you happy... they will help you when you eventually want to take the big jump

    I have been a passive reader of IL, and have read ALL your posts. You do have a knack of writing stir posts. Why don't you venture into writing, or blogging? You certainly are very good at providing interest garnering content. I am sure with time your channel/site will get more traffic, and remuneration accordingly.

    Not sure what is your area of expertise .. did you do a research on what the pay is in that area and does it meet your expectation ...

    After care in school expense is much less than full time day care amount ... you may pay something like 200 - 300 for aftercare ... most school will have those ... so that should not be an issue

    have you ever considered volunteering ... you may not need to spend a lot of time but you may find it fulfilling ...

    @anika
    Please try the kumons in your area. They need tutors for preschoolers- teaching reading, phonics etc, they even need some graders etc. Usually, the teachers take their kid there, so you can take your daughter. Same with other chains, that tutor.
    Please do not take your to daughter to too many activities. Slowly move activities to weekend, where your husband can take it. If you are working, you will want at least the first year- to have no activities on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Since, you are starting after such long break, it will be tiring for you. And do not think, your daughter will miss out on anything.
    Please research reading specialist. Since, there many children who are non native English speakers, they need one on one lesson at school, in small groups. Please check it online if your state has it. With your kind of English skills, it will be very easy for you.
