I won't be surprised if the guys actually want the girls to wear more revealing outfits at the ' dekho 'ceremony to get a clearer idea .:roflmao:

This is the older mindset where pants are only for men. They forget the mighty nightie can be more revealing, specially if one does not wear a saree skirt below it ( which most women don’t wear , I think )

I am a little surprised at other comments on the shorts thread about sitting cross legged. No one comments on the guys legs when they sit. Are supposed to sit looking meek now? I sit like a gunda, I like my body language to exude confidence and not appear meek.

Yes my FIL especially has completely old mindset and very orthodox!
According to him women shouldn’t wear jeans and tops. I’m like :rage:
Since he is against it my DH also wants me to follow the same when in-laws are around us.
Forget about jeans once I wore a kurta which is asymmetrical. For which he said don’t wear such things its not auspicious.
I’m like WTH seriously !!! How does dressing style make one unlucky or poor!
People seriously need to grow up.

I think these in-laws have to be given some training before marriage on what matters they can interfere and what not!

Government mandate on the PIL's ?! hahaha .:flushed:

Instead of Saas-bahu drama, there will ba some lower division clerk from the municipality's family admin division telling the bahu what to do, and mediating daily disputes.

In Kerala there is something similar like pre counselling for the bride and groom before marriage. So why not do the same for in-laws. Less drama and less issues in IL too!

First time I have heard of this! Googled to see some reportage on the matter:
    Govt launches pre-marital counselling centres
Apparently this is voluntary, and more to do with husband-wife adjustments in cohabitation, work, etc... rather than inhibiting saas-bahu issues.

Without saas-bahu issues, wouldn't the traditional life, and the generational transfer of culture die out ?
