    Dear all,

I m in a huge dilemma. I have a daughter who is 2.4 years old and i have decided to do her "vidhyaarambham" this vijayadasami. But unfortunately, i m expecting my periods tomorrow (which is always on time) and vijayadasmi falling on a working day..i can't expect much of help from my husband. I will have to decorate the mandir and prepare naivedhyam. I really, really dont want to miss this dasami.

    What do i do?:spin

Can i go ahead and do everything and take part in vidhyaarambham myself or do i need to request my SIL (a working woman) who stays nearby to do it on my behalf.

Please, please, please do guide me.

    Thanks all in advance.

    sangi:thumbsup

    Hi,

I happen to visit a shop called PITAMBARI near LLOYDS road near Nagathamman Temple
recently opened two three weeks back wherein they undertake to supply dressedup dolls
They specialise in MADE TO ORDER I understand ARUSUVAI NATARAJAN & CO recently
bought a set of MARRIAGE DOLLS. RAMAYANA THEME set order was also under preparation. Earlier when the person who is in charge presented such dressed up dolls
exhibiting various events in a UPANAYANAM like bikshavandanam Brhmopadesam etc
little did u realise that this is going to take shape of made to order sets/themes.
I saw the advertisement too in Mylapore Times and Hindu Suppliment.I think one can
enhance the appearance of GOLU easily using these dressed up dolls

    Thanks Chitra.
Ideally 5 padis is a good idea.
Always the first/bottom most padi should have either animals or human beings to start with. Making a nice back drop with colorful papers/danglers, or even with two vella veshtis (dhoties) with good broad jari, both the jaris meeting at center would suffice for the backdrop.
with a silk saree, the backdrop can be made even more attractive. Fleet whole of the saree, (tie it at the center the joint between the two veshtis) pin the ends of each side of the saree like in a saree shop, the way they display the sarees..

    Cheers
    Veenakannan

Keep forest as theme and spread elephants in the forest. You can keep very less trees and show a message that forest area is dwindling because of man and you can see that the elephants are more in number but forest area is less.

    Just a thought.

One more idea would be to showcase Mysore dasara as more elephants will be there during dasara time.

One more idea to to showcase seeveli -popular ritual of Guruvayoor temple.

    Hello ilits,
Very glad to read about doubts of new people who are keeping Kolu for the first time.
Here I want to share my experiences when I started keeping Kolu.
In fact even before that when my mom started because of my brother.
First time my mom ...kept Kolu without kalasam only.because both in..laws have not kept before.
As years passed ,we came to know about marapachi ,kalasam etc.then started keeping as water &coconut kalasam, slowly Pooja part (daily pooja),we started performing.

Other wise we kept big parks. Made lot of sundials daily. Roamed with colourful dresses to neighbours houses. Daily children used to come and we too used to go.

    Those were all gone days.
Years rolled I kept Kolu only after my son's grew up.my mil didnot compelled us .
She said so long I am keeping u all(4 dils)Chant Lalitha sahasranamam daily on 9 days keep some payasam .depending on your convenience.yes we were all going on transfer.

    Contd,
Now we started first because of children interest, without kalasam, then added on.

Why I am narrating all this is,,Ambhal is prathyakksham in those Navarathri days.
4 types of. Navarathri s are there in a year and this one is very important.celebrated all over India.
Durga Pooja last 3 days are celebrated in culcatta in a grand manner.
Many people observe last 3 days ,invite every one on saraswathy Pooja day,
    So donot get confused.

Martha lalithambhighai is ready to bless us.

Do with dedication,as Sai says Sradha and sabhuri is important.

With purity mind of body Keep Kolu.whether it's small or big.

As ladies we have lot of inconveniences.

Starters start in a small manner.atleast last 3 days.

And see how it grows .

If u cannot keep payasam in the mornings, keep, panchamirith prepared with any type of fruits,or keep any dry fruit sweets with sugar and ghee.
    So many options we have.

    GOD Bless you All.
