    hi all,
I am divorced, and I have a 4 year old daughter. She was born in USA but later we relocated to India, no plans of going to USA anytime soon. Divorce happened in India.

Want to know how to change my daughter’s last name. Your inputs will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

My daughter is US born and we changed her name according to numerology. We changed the name legally, we applied and had been called for the court hearing. Both of us (my hubby and me) went and took oath and explained the reason. The judge was curious to hear the reason and I explained. Everything is over within half an hour. I think if the child is minor, the kid need not appear in the court hearing. Based on the document we applied for the change of name, got the new passport. Hope it helps.

YES, I have also gone through the same procedure as explained above. We changed the last name of our kids as my husband changed his last name from fathers (long) name to actual last name (short). Collected forms from the court, submitted notarized form in the court house. Took appointment, and appeared in front of the judge. Both of us were present. I think one parent is also OK. Kids dont have to be there. Judge will ask some questions . That's all. It was over within 10-15 minutes. They handed over the court order with new names. Then we went to social security office after 2 weeks. Got new card, then applied for new birth certificate and finally changed passport and got new OCI card.

I dont know how its possible if you are in India and also your dd is a US citizen. She has to follow US rules.

Changing name in India is not easy like this. But one should be Indian citizen. Name Change Procedure in India: A Complete 3-Step Guide

I think you should contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate for more information about services available to U.S. citizens. google can help to gain some info
